Britney Spears

• Music - 4.5/5 - The setlist is pretty accurate for me, it’s a Halftime show so I personally don’t see the inclusion of album cuts necessary, so you pretty much nailed it for me, Work ***** was snubbed though!
• Costume - .5/2 - It was kinda messy, the Britney looks are okay but I wish you had more of a concept in general because they just felt random to me due to the fact that the dancers had different outfits for every single song, it just felt extremely incohesive and all over the place.
• Staging - 1/3 - Same critique as the costumes, there was not a established concept and it felt all over the place to me, it had some nice details regarding the choreographies but very weak overall.
• Final Score: 6/10

 

Kylie Minogue

• Music - 4.5/5 - I think the way you ordered this + the interludes works extremely well, it has a very nice flow to it. I do feel like you could’ve maybe squeezed a few more songs in that are considered Kylie classics to me (Chocolate and Come Into My World) but overall it’s great!

• Costume - 2/2 - Obsessed with the looks, they feel so ***** and adequate for a Super Bowl.

• Staging - 2.5/3 - Obsessed with those AI pictures, they were so fun to look at and the concept was extremely present to me, I do wish you went into more depth with the performances of each song but it’s overall very nice and cohesive.

• Final Score: 9/10

 

Nicki Minaj

• Music - 4.5/5 - Not sure how I felt about Monster being the opener but honestly the setlist as a whole is great, hit after hit.

• Costume - 1/2 - I love the concept but some of the looks were not very great, they all make sense with the performance but you could’ve done way better for Nicki.

• Staging - 3/3 - I was gagged tbh, I loved the concept since the beginning and the amount of detail you gave for everything was great.

• Final Score: 8.5/10

 

Avril Lavigne

• Music - 4/5 - Keep Holding On into Sk8r Boi into I’m With You felt kinda weird to me but the selection of songs is good overall, and the Joan/Olivia features felt random at first but I guess it works to a certain extent, thanks for that audio edit btw, nice little touch that helped.

• Costume - .5/2 - These looks… boot. You could’ve done way more, Olivia had the best look of the bunch and it was nothing special. 

• Staging - 2.5/3 - I wish you had used some sort of visual for this but the descriptions you gave are detailed enough and pretty fun.

• Final Score: 7/10

• Costume - 0.5/2 - It really just feels like a walkthrough of past eras. Nothing super inventive here

• Staging - 1.5/3 - There’s some level of thought here, but this all seems very paint-by-numbers for an alleged pop princess

• Music - 4/5 - I’m not well read on what is/isn’t seen as adequate for Kylie but this works for me. I do think the distribution of representation across her discography is weird 

• Costume - 2/2 - No complaints

• Staging - 2.5/3 - Cute fan fictions

Nicki Minaj

• Music - 3.5/5 - I’m personally not a fan of the Cardi feature fan fiction, nor am I super enthused with Only’s appearance. 

• Costume - 1.5/2 - They’re ugly, but intentionally so I guess.

• Staging - 3/3 - I appreciate how thought through everything here is.

• Music - 3.5/5 - The song list is the best thing here, you can't really go wrong with Britney's hits, they're all fun and iconic and most are halftime show ready. I will say you could have included a couple non singles like Showdown/Kill the Lights/Gasoline would have been cute for the Super Bowl, also more Blackout is always appreciated in my house!

• Costume - .5/2 - I feel like you could have done more with the costumes, included more pics, found better pics, done more changes, Britney has so many amazing tour looks you could have used and iconic performance looks like multiple VMAs looks.

• Staging - 1.5/3 - "She says it's britney." Already botched the opening, it's BRITNEY *****! not "it's britney." I think the sets are fun but basic/predictable for the most part but I do like some of the detail you give for the dancers/choreo. The dancers slithering like a snake in S4U, the flight attendants choreo sounds fun. Um the Madonna guest spot could have definitely been expanded, it sounds really short and basic for such a legend, you could have remixed Vogue or one of her hits into a Britney classic and had them do something besides repeat the vmas kiss.

• Final Score: 5.5/10

 

Kylie Minogue

• Music - 5/5 - Love the songs yall chose, Spinning Around/Slow/Love at First Sight, you’ve got all my faves here tbh. I like the order you chose and how you use some as intros/interludes, very nice. 

• Costume - 2/2 - The costumes you chose are gorgeous and I like how you included the art pics of Kylie as well for each stage of the show, it helped me visualize the show more in my mind. 

• Staging - 2.5/3 - I will say your presentation itself is my favorite of the 4 groups, it’s visually very interesting and fun to go through and that’s appreciated.  The AI art pics are a great choice because they let you create these fun cosmic disco visuals. I feel like you explained what Kylie was doing very well for the performances, the only critique really is maybe more details about the dancers and any stage props/backgrounds, a few of the songs you just describe Kylie singing/dancing solo and don’t really visualize anything else that’s going on, like the Cowboy Style thru Get Outta My Way section. 

• Final Score: 9.5/10

 

Nicki Minaj

• Music - 4/5 - You included 3 of my top favorite Nicki songs, I appreciate that, Moment 4 Life is the perfect closer, Chun-Li/Monster very strong opener. I will say #Justice4VaVaVoom though and a Bottoms Up or Plain Jane verse would have slayed. The Cardi guest spot though? It’s a stunt I guess, I don’t believe it but good for you trying to bring peace to female rap. I do feel like you could have included more of her features/better guests than Cardi. Imagine a David Guetta section hyping the crowd, Turn Me On/Hey Mama, or Ariana and Side to Side live, dick bicycle live at the Super Bowl. 

• Costume - 2/2 - I love the costumes, they all fit Nicki and Cardi, I love the colors and different styles representing iconic Nicki moments, very nice choices.

• Staging - 3/3 - I feel like you did a great job with your Super Bowl stages, I love the Barbie theme, very on brand for Nicki, pink is the best color, I love the details you go into with the sets, I feel like a Barb had to of wrote this up because you know a lot of perfect details. The mama bear part and pregnant Barbie is corny af but so is Nicki now and I could definitely see her doing some mess like that. 

• Final Score: 9/10

 

Avril Lavigne

• Music - 4/5 - You included my top 3 favorite Avril songs so I’m happy with that, the guest performers are uh interesting, I could see Joan Jett for sure, Olivia is cute I guess, she would be needed to bring in some younger viewers maybe but idk she’s waited so long since her debut to release anything, is she even relevant anymore? Also I don’t love the flow of the last 3 songs, Keep Holding On into Sk8r Boi then I’m With You, is kinda jarring, you probably could have just removed the short KHO section tbh. The concept audio is much appreciated though!

• Costume - 1.5/2 - I appreciate the many costume changes, some look like slays, a few are giving like.. boring day at the mall though.

• Staging - 3/3 - I think you chose great props and set pieces for Avril. I love the motorcycle entrance, the Bring It On inspired section, and the black balloons at the end, these all feel very on brand for Avril to me and would work great for the halftime show. 

• Final Score: 8.5/10

Britney Spears

• Music - 2.5/5 - This seems longer than an actual Super Bowl Halftime Show. You stuffed it to the brim with hits, and yet it doesn’t really excite me. I could have used an off-kilter choice or two to shake up expectations and show how deep Britney’s discography runs. The biggest surprise is that you spend that much time with “If U Seek Amy,” of all things. The Madonna guest appearance is perfunctory and wasted. If you’re going to get someone of her stature to the show, do something really creative with her! Your most inspired choice was using the breakdown from “Hold It Against Me.” I love that part.

• Costume - 1/2 - It’s giving ugly, especially that cursed image you found for the “...Baby One More Time” section. What do you mean Madonna is wearing the look that Santana wore on Glee? That’s just her costume from the music video.

• Staging - 1.5/3 - It’s awfully light on dancing for a pop star with so much iconic choreography. She’s really using none of it on her biggest stage? Make it make sense. A couple moments I like: the lights turning up during “Gimme More,” the “Circus” dance-off.

• Final Score: 5/10

 

Kylie Minogue

• Music - 3.5/5 - Seriously? Her entire pre-2000s career gets less representation here than the Disco era. As a Kylie fan, I’m legitimately offended. It’s definitely giving off a shallow knowledge of her discography. I can see that you were largely sticking to a club and dance-pop vibe with these choices and there’s a certain flow I appreciate, especially with the nice use of interludes. But would it have killed you to throw in, say, “Where Is the Feeling?” or at least something more unexpected like “Your Disco Needs You”?

• Costume - 2/2 - You did that. The reinvention of the “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” look is everything.

• Staging - 2.5/3 - Gorgeous presentation. The renderings totally captured for me the flashy, stadium-filling sensory overload that you were going for. I agree that I could have used a touch more detail about the performance itself, though there were some nice star moments in there. Kylie dancing with a cowboy hat for “Cowboy Style” is cute, but I am not seeing the connection to “Slow,” especially when she had a whole cowboy era two albums ago.

• Final Score: 8/10

 

Nicki Minaj

• Music - 5/5 - A bit iconic, I fear. This setlist would honestly smash. I was skeptical about starting the performance so musically heavy, but listening through, these conceptual groupings do largely work for me. I don’t care if the Card guest spot is a stunt that would never happen in real life. I would like to see it! And hear what Nicki would do on “WAP.”

• Costume - 1.5/2 - I have no idea how these costume changes would happen on time, but I admire your commitment to the themes! Even if two of the looks sound terribly ugly. The original Barbie swimsuit is brilliant, though.

• Staging - 2.5/3 - It sounds great overall. I was laughing at the idea of her getting sucked up into a floating party spaceship during “Starships.” Sure, why not?! My one concern is the opening segment. Spending nearly the first five minutes in that studio space, before the performance opens out into bigger settings, runs the risk of feeling constrained.

• Final Score: 9/10

 

Avril Lavigne

• Music - 4.5/5 - Opening with “Rock N Roll” is exactly the kind of unhinged I wanted from this challenge. Does anybody know that song? No! Is it secretly one of Avril’s best, a total banger that kicks off the setlist with just the blast of energy we need? Absolutely! That was inspired. I also have to give you major props for the concept audio. Even if it wasn’t perfect, it really helped me visualize the section with Joan Jett and Olivia Rodrigo, and I’m here for it. After that is where things deflate slightly for me. It’s not that it doesn’t work, but there’s something slightly jarring about having two extended ballad sections with “Sk8er Boi” in between after the high-octane first half. “I’m With You” is a beautiful closer, but maybe it would have helped to swap it with “Keep Holding On,” which would offer a more anthemic ending.

• Costume - 1.5/2 - For an artist like Avril, I’m not really expecting costume changes. One well-chosen look probably would have made more of an impact, since half of these outfits are ugly or don’t feel up to the Super Bowl Halftime Show. But I guess she needs to get in her Abbey Dawn promo.

• Staging - 3/3 - I could not stop laughing at this entire thing. Thank you all for thoroughly entertaining me with this nonsense. I almost wanted to deduct something for that unnecessary final slide making excuses. But no, I enjoyed it too much.

• Final Score: 9/10

You know I was gonna put a lot of Kylie songs prior to 1999 but the problem was she has too many good songs to not use.

 

We were really considering to adding the locomotion because it's her debut hit but it didn't fit sonically into the setlist and I personally didn't really like the song.

 

Also I feel like putting more new songs makes Kylie look less of a throwback act and more of a now act if you get what I mean

i actually made an entire ellie setlist b4 hand and even the mp3 file before i realised that it wasnt individual submissions but team.

I thought it wasn't right to do something I liked and the other 2 team memebers didnt like so we all came to choosing Kylie, and artist we all loved we admired. We had great teamwork together and it was quite fun asking for opinions on their must-add Kylie faves to the setlist etc.

 

I definitely think it should continue because it really tests how much teamwork & positivity can really effect the outcome of your work + it tests your trust/reliance on your team members. I'm proud of what my team accomplished and am very thankful to have these 2 talented members create the Kylie superbowl.

Oh come on, El. Don’t be too shallow. You need to look deeper than this. There are now 5 Khoranas left and 4 Matthaeis and 3 Nirenbergs. And there are 11 people left from planet Earth and 1 from planet Chromatica. There are so many ways to consider how the votes will go this round instead of that. Yeah at this point, people need to look beyond that. 
 

But if it is like what you said above, there are only 3 favorites can be voted out this round. I’m prettier than the other 2 and I always flopped at the challenges. Even people who wanted to throw challenge still can win against me. So keep me, 7 fans

There definitely appear to be factions forming, though the borders and lines might be a bit more malleable than they appear...it's hard to determine if people are still loyal to their old tribal lines, or if new relationships formed from swaps, merges, or challenges will become the driving force for the rest of the merge....i think this vote should really draw some lines in the sand.
