Okay, this was a very cute promo single to get us hyped. Now let's get to the REAL lead, please

The song grew on me but it doesn't have much replay value mmm They need to immediately release an actual lead

Why would they make her return with a single that wasn't sent to radio....?

They’re dumping the album. It just doesn’t feel like they’re planning on giving her that big, splashy push anymore unless TikTok/word of mouth spreads on its own.

That's the best decision at the moment for her. Just drop the project, see what it does and go from there

"It's giving rollout. It's giving structure. It's giving organized."

I dunno it’s not even like her music is bad I have no idea what’s not clicking.

I think it’s her image. Her good girl gone bad phase was too rushed and a lot of people have commented on how it didn’t feel natural. She should’ve taken cues from Janet and Riri and started off with a more sultry/sexy image/music before going full on raunchy.

Another problem is that her voice doesn’t really fit in within the current R&B landscape. All the current leading R&B girls (SZA, Summer, Jhene) have that singer-songwriter voice with lyricism as their main strength. Chloe is a vocalist and more suited for traditional R&B music which isn’t in demand atm unfortunately. I think she should try to crossover to Pop. If that doesn’t work, she can always fall back to making traditional R&B music and have a Jazmine Sullivan type of career. :celestial5:

Yeah, her overall presentation isn’t the most modern/current out of her peers.

Tinashe tried that and it didn't work. It's best that she continues the traditional R&B path (it suits her voice, as you said!), as that's the way to get a loyal following, even if it's a niche audience. But she'll never have problems with touring & that's how you become a established artist. And just like Jazmine Sullivan, she'll steady but surely will become more and more popular within her genre; then she can experiment with pop and do other things.

I honestly can’t believe this :deadbanana2: She had more Twitter hype for this than Surprise + FTN and it’s a pure R&B song unlike the other two yet it’s doing worse than ever :rip:

I feel so bad for the way she is being handled. We all love her and she can clearly sing and perform her butt off. She is a STAR. It's so frustrating that she isn't popping off like we thought she would. I hope with the album being released, it'll cause a shift somehow and change her direction.

I relistened to Ungodly Hour and it just kind of highlighted how lackluster her solo releases have been for me.

If Chloe’s solo music was like Ungodly Hour, she would never have to worry about having hits for days and a consistent image. Everything about that era was so polished like a full mega label and team were behind it but it was mainly chloe and halle being resourceful (like chloe even created choreography for some live performances) and Parkwood.

I would not be mad if Chloe just let Halle help her make the solo project. Sometimes it’s ok to get help from your reliable sources. They don’t have to split 100% to do solo work, y’all are still sisters and have a strong musical chemistry. It’s like telling Timbaland and Missy in the 90s to just go ahead and separate completely for solo projects. Makes no sense artistically.

Short version: Chloe’s solo music is missing the secret sauce to take it to the next level. Have Mercy was the most fresh thing and now we’re going 100% away from that it seems.

That could work too but I think it’s more risky for her to try to crossover after establishing her place within (traditional) R&B. She would be accused of being a sell out and risk losing the support of R&B fans without guaranteed success within the Pop field. It’s happened many times before. Her current fan base is very young and without a strict attachment to a specific genre so it would be easier to experiment with different sounds now.

Also Tinashe is really an odd and very unlucky case. Practically everything went wrong for her at every turn. :rip:

Not H.E.R's old ass song "Comfortable" reentering:hoetenks:

#197 Comfortable

#200 Pray It Away

Them Twitter users fake asf. They just have a aesthetic attachment to Chloe I feel like. They never come through for her music

The song just wasn't IT. I doubt the people who celebrate her on Twitter were dying to hear a traditional R&B gospel song  :deadbanana4:  In a time where we're getting a very modern input on R&B, it just doesn't make sense to release this as your album introduction. It's even worse because she can't release a thot song next, an extreme bop or something because it would just be weird.

I just know Beyoncé and Rihanna are keeping those up tempo urban bops locked for themselves and not letting the younger girls touch them. Like we've said before, just drop the album and pray for the best

They said no more free hits off our leftovers. Also, with Britney Spears not being active, you can really see all the leftover bops across pop and r&b, that were coming out early to mid 2010s have dried up.

Y'll did not realize that Chloe & Halle did most of the stuff of Ungodly Hour by themselves (writer, composer, producer) while Chloe has no producing or composing credits in 3 of 4 singles so far. Which means that they were passed on her as demos and she just rewrote the lyrics a bit.

I don't know if it's her choice or label's choice but she has way less outputs on her solo materials than Ungodly Hour
