Im sorry but after Have Mercy all shes shown me is that shes learned EVERYTHING Beyoncé has to offer except the actual pop sensibilities. Im not saying she should go pop, but the sensibilities of making a smash hit is something she absolutely lacks. She lacks so bad in making right singles, Have Mercy was the PERFECT lead, but the follow up was supposed to be the one to really take her to the mainstream level instead she gave us the overproduced Treat Me. She needs to pick radio friendly singles, none of the **** she released since HM scream radio smash. At this point I think its better if she becomes a hook girl for awhile, collab with DJs around the world and get her name out there. This song was too minimalistic, no obvious hook, the choreo was not fitting the sound and aesthetic. Just because you can dance doesnt mean you have to dance to everything. One more thing, she loves stacking and doing all these vocal acrobatics and honestly it just ruins the songs for me. Her voice is too distracting from the main melody that the song loses its catchiness at times. She needs to go through the Ariana Grande school of layering with pop smash hits. This. Beyonce's debut & her standalone singles (Check on it) were deliciously pop while keeping her R&B sound. This girl has shown to be incapable of doing this (for the moment). She has talent though , she might bounce back.mp3
SoJro101 Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 The song grew on me. There’s an R&B audience for this and more than anything she needs to strengthen her R&B base imo.
BeyIridescent Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 9 hours ago, MingYouToo said: But the B singles were all pop bangers be for real she was as pop as what pop was allowed to be back then. And they were uptempo bangers. Regardless of how you feel about B's 2000s output her hits were uptempo SMASHES (bar a few ballads ofc) None of Chloe's output post Treat Me has been a banger, even Treat Me was borderline noise. Again, that was 20 years ago and the music landscape has changed dramatically. Black women owned the charts back then. Why are you even comparing the two?
Power love Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Chole has always been a slow burner artist where her songs look like their flopping at first then two months later it raises and smash. Give her time to grow with her music
Specter Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Sorry but I will always love Chloe She's had a HOLD on me since Have Mercy, which is so timeless to me. This is a chill bop, and I hope this gets her more R&B fans. I love her voice, her harmonies are divine as always, and I live for her delivery. When she says my halo is gone Also, she sounds like Bey now and then.
sxmescudi Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 the more i listen to it the more i love it not me switching from thinking it’s the worst single to thinking it’s the best one

justjess Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Not a fan of the song but both sisters are really talented. Though Chloe needs to learn to enunciate...

Im a stan and I see your comment and agree. But at the end of the day if this is what Chloe lives for this is it. HM is also my fave track and basically made me stan and wait eagerly on the album. Pray it away has being the worst release to me. She only served visual. Sonically music is lackluster and I dont get why because usually I like those producers shes working with. Makes me think i can only blame Chloe herself lol. I hate that stupid haters got into her head with calling her church girl, virgin and what does she know about sex/y cause now she ina church for no reason because song isnt serving Like a prayer cultural shift, lyrics dont give me good enough reason to be in the church for, her mentioning im no virgin mary just in hopes to strike controversy... who cares what haters have to say now she flopped so hard, being out of 200 in todays day and age where just couple of views would get you top 100 im embrassed. im still here, but cmon chloe. do you
Flare Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 Upon research, this is very in trend with Urban radio right now. Maybe Chloe can serve R&B commercial hit with this, if her team is just a biT competent. That might be asking for too much these days though.
4RCH1M3D35 Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 It's not a bad song but I would be surprised if the label thought it was going to smash on arrival. A solid offering if it's a promo single.

UnusualBoy Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 I like this, so far I've liked all the songs she's released.
Virgos Groove Posted January 30, 2023 Posted January 30, 2023 Yeah, this is definitely giving promo single. REAL LEAD SINGLE COMES ON SUNDAY
TalkThatRihanna Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Definitely my favorite song from her along with Treat Me. I hate how hard it’s flopping
kandicha Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 i really enjoy the production on this song compared to earlier singles, it's so pleasant. but it just needed a bit more punch to make it a good single.. we just need a new lead single!

Yeah it’s cute but I won’t be streaming. This is very weak for someone trying to launch an album after scrapping all those singles.
Dr. Alexander Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 I can’t find their base, but Halle is set up to grab the torch from Brandy. She has the signature hair that will become a staple in her career, she’ll garner the extremely young fanbase from The Little Mermaid, and she’ll be in the TV and film business. All she needs is the perfect mix of pop and R&B, and she’s good to go. Hopefully Columbia will market her the same as Brandy because it suits her aura.
