Stephen A. Smith about Rihanna SB: "She ain't Beyoncé"

Obviously like Rihanna is not Beyonce. They are two different people. One is a fashion icon worth more than 1 billion, and the other is an entertainer who can sing and dance. Two vastly different artists.

So unnecessary. They're both in their own lanes. I'm looking forward for the halftime show :clap3:

Sherri should’ve kicked his ass off the stage.

What does Rih have to do with Bey, and vice versa? Both are talented queens and deserve to be respected as such.

Where’s that video of him saying “we don’t care”? As if anyone cares what his old ass thinks about a woman who wouldn’t even let him wash her car.

its his fault for comparing Rih with Bey in the first place, like why Bey specifically? :deadbanana2:

I don’t remember Rihanna ever putting on a good show.

She has them hits though, so it will be nice to see her 1-2 steps to the beat.

It will be a showcase of budget but not talent. Go in with the right expectation and we should be good. :heart2:

unfortunately it's just good old racism/misogyny, as Rihanna and Beyonce are the only 2 female black music mega stars in last almost 20 years, it's actually sad and crazy to think about that there has not been one black female even close to their level in almost 2 decades now, I mean sure if you want to count Nicki but she is not as successful as them and she is a rapper, Rihanna was compared to Beyonce from day 1 and once it was obvious she is on her way to become modern day pop icon and media became more ''woke'' those comparisons stopped but yeah his comment would not cause this much backlash if it was said like 10 years before

I think he wanted to tell us that Rih's SB is gonna suck without being too obvious

Pretty much. It’s no secret she’s an average performer.

There always has to be that somebody comparing a Black woman to Beyonce, especially the stans. Even if the matter has little to do with her, she still has to be involved someway or somehow.

No **** she’s not Beyoncé, she’s Rihanna. She is a different artist entirely and we are so far beyond this stupid notion that there is only room for one female star, or even worse one female POC star in the music industry. It’s 2023 ***** move on.

All she needs is medleys, a dj set, Caribbean imagery, and one huge feature and just vibe out. No nair choreo, don't do any ballads just rock out with your catalog.

Not that they need to compete but her Fenty shows have had crazy good production so I'm sure that will translate into her performance. Also Beyonce's setlist was kind of meh, Rih can easily have the superior setlist which is like 30% of the work.

They both lip sync.

To Rihanna's credit she doesn't and you can tell :gaycat6:

Oh dear. There goes half a decade of Hive-Navy harmony. :jonnycat:

Half a decade? We can't even do that for half of a day :rip: However, it did feel like the annoying comparisons stopped for a good while and well...This comes out :priceless:

This was unnecessary on his part and kind off in this climate of individuality and the notion of "everyone winning" in their own way.

BUT...

It was quite nauseating to see how "shocked and appalled" everyone from Sherri to some of the stans are. It's really not that deep. It was an opinion...one many share at that. I'm very much FOR accountability culture and calling out true evil and injustice. But this really was just an opinion. One he is entitled to and should be able to voice if asked (which he was).

It's crazy that we perceivably live in the most liberal time ever, yet the level of sensitivity about things/opinions that don't even matter is at an all-time high.

More than anything, it's so ironic that stans that spar all day long about whose fave is better and go to war with receipts and lashings are melting down over his remarks. Very...ironic.
