normanikordeix Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 If any A list singer release 5 Star Hotel everyone would be gagged……. Its so good.
kandicha Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 whew, an album! glad she could get this out after so long and follow her own artistic vision. i like all the album tracks, even environmental anxiety, but the order in the second half is just a little messy.
xXavril Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Just did a first listen, went in completely blind, and wow. This was an amazing album. I had never heard of her but a couple friends were talking about how good it was so I put it on, and it was so good! There were a couple moments around the middle that I feel were rather mid, but overall this was a fantastic album
Jay L Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Worth It definitely needs to be pushed as a single. Her next smash hit if promoted right I think Flip A Switch definitely has to be a single too. I can see her remixing this with a female rapper
Infatuation_Junkie Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 I finally had the opportunity to listen in full. I’d only heard escapism. Wow. Whatanalbum!!!! She’s going to be something special. As if the old record label dropped her! I can’t even fathom that. tf is wrong with them? I stan
KasioKas Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Finally heard it, every single song is good and such a strong cohesive album. So proud of ha

raven Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Her artistic identity really shines through on this album I'm stanning

I stan she had to kick and scream for them to release her. she was in a contract for something like 9 years and still hadn’t released an album despite being a certified hit maker. (bed, secrets, ydkm) her last label single “call on me” was released and she low-key broke down online and spoke to fans abt how was essentially a label prisoner and if the song didn’t perform well she would be fcuked - it was a rlly sad but got so much love from fans and other artists like charli etc, and made such a noise that i guess they were embarrassed/being call out by fans and publications etc. they’re so dumb for doing her wrong been a fan of her since i, u, us and i’m so happy for her, she deserves this. Delirious Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Been following raye since 2016 but I gotta say, this debut does kinda miss the mark for me. Got some great tracks here and there but the project as a whole has some spark missing. It's too inconsistent imo. Nevertheless a decent record. 7/10
tartarsauce Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Oh, this debut is really nice! Okay Raye! Her and the producer Mike Sabbath did very well with the production on My 21st Century Blues. She came in with a real good punch back to back Oscar Winning Tears, Hard Out Here, Black Mascara, Escapism... I love the honestly she is putting out there when it comes to her being SA, substance abuse, and body image. She gets pretty vulnerable on this album. The thrill is gone, flip a switch, body dysmorphia, Five Star Hotels, and Buss it Down are my favorites as well.. That's almost the whole album! lol. I'd say this is a solid debut album. I hope it's successful.
tartarsauce Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 "Flip A Switch" needs to be a single! "Flip a switch on a prick, then I Come alive in the nighttime In the club sippin' Hennessy And tell him I'm dead if he calling me Flip a switch on a prick, and I'm A very sound ***** till you cross that line Black heels, black shades, that my energy Tell him I'm dead if he calling me"
Alldeezy Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 This album surprised me! it's so much different to her EP and the album she pretty much half wrote for Mabel, it's so powerful! It's an Quality album. anything she does is pure art ngl.
est. in 90s Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 When I tell you Black Mascara was INSTANT
*-ChriZ-* Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 The 4 Songs she picked for her EP were definitely the standouts, so well done. I also like Flip A Switch, Worth It, and Buss it down. Lots of the other songs sounded unfinished imho/demo-like. Overall good start for a debut album, tho definitely room for improvement
Cotton Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 It’s crazy that earlier in the thread people were acting as if the second half of this album was bad when it’s in fact the best part. Ice Cream Man, Five Star Hotels, Flip A Switch, Worth It & Buss It Down >>>

MusicIsMyMaster Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Loving this album a lot. However *Environmental Anxiety*.. is wayy too corny
