Hector Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 (edited) Hard Out Here, Escapism, Black Mascara, and The Thrill Is Gone I already loved Oscar Winning Tears is a good R&B track Mary Jane is a good stripped back acoustic song. Ice Cream Man is a really strong personal ballad as well. I vibe smoothly to Flip A Switch Body Dysmorphia is very good too I LOVE the flow of Environmental Anxiety, best non-single track. I get a strong 2000s feeling from it. Five Star Hotels is good, this could work as an urban/rhythmic radio single in the US. Worth It, I love the throwback vibes to this. Great retro funk vibes to it Buss It Down works well as a swan song closer (not counting Fin). Great "debut" album, because if anything it showcases her versatility of musical genres & songwriting skills very well Edited February 4, 2023 by Hector
ariesgroove Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 this album was amazing front to back knowing how long its taken her to get this project out, the quality of this record really shows how much effort she put in! i love how the record is both moody as it is humorous at times! her voice on this record just sounds STUNNING! this record made me realize her voice really is akin to rihanna and amy winehouse also! all my favorites off first listen: mary jane. black mascara. flip a switch. oscar winning tears. body dysmorphia. environmental anxiety. escapism. (obviously!!!) buss it down. #GoToHellPolydor!
Jay L Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Buss It Down is a perfect closer such a feel good vibe
Carrie-is-no-1 Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 The first half was perf. The 2nd half has more variety and quite polarizing. Is she booking any prime slot for Ice Cream Man? Great message. That song needs the beat to kick in on the 2nd half if she ever performs live, that BBC performance was beautiful but won't capture the GP.
Fading Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 I'm checking this out after the Adele co-sign. I've never heard even Escapism before even tho I saw it was rising on Spotify. She's super talented... 👌
Starkboy Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 As someone who's been rooting for her for years this is so satisfying to watch. The album is amazing. among the new tracks, my fave tracks were: Oscar Winning Tears Flip a Switch Ice Cream Man Don't get the hate for Environmental Anxiety tho. it's such a bop! Worth It too. Mary Jane, on the other hand, was whack ngl.
Poete Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 The second half is such a grower Body dysmorphia, five stars hotel, environmental anxiety >>>>>
aesthetic bih Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 This album is soooooo good! Why is it not getting more attention??

wraith Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 On first listen I did kinda agree that it fell apart a bit near the end cuz side A is so strong, but on repeat listens every album track has grown on me. She truly did that, a really impressive debut and a great showcase of her talent

Nii. Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Wow. This is an ALBUM. It's been a moment since a traditional pop release like this from a newcomer has impressed me like this.
tbhmatt Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 After sitting with the album for 24 hours, this is my current order from favourite to least favourite: Escapism. Hard Out Here. Black Mascara. Five Star Hotels. Flip A Switch. Oscar Winning Tears. Worth It. The Thrill Is Gone. Ice Cream Man. Environmental Anxiety. Mary Jane. Body Dysmorphia. Buss It Down.

tbhmatt Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Actually…. Wait… I hear something with Flip A Switch. This is sonically & lyrically the PERFECT follow up to Escapism. The spoken word intro sounds so cohesive right after Escapism & lyrically it’s the perfect “I’m over it” response. She can create such a strong narrative by pushing this song next. Rachel I know you’re reading this somehow, I am manifesting
