Everything else will come in due time. On that note I really wanted her original pop debut album to be released 😢 did we ever get a title or tracklist? Her pop tracks hold a very special place for me because being a popstar of color and finding the success that she did it was refreshing. Most black female artists are relegated to just making urban music and it was just really nice to see a girl like Raye find so much success in pop. Not enough black female singers making pop music. this album if full of "urban" influences. I would say it's more R&B oriented than it is Pop.
georgerose Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 This is incredible....Mary Jane is THAT ***** she snatched my wig so hard
Alex Posted February 3, 2023 Author Posted February 3, 2023 We need a jazz album from her someway down the line
despy Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 i'm gonna need the geepee to get into 5 Star Hotels real quick!!!!
goldstargay Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Some of the takes on this are .... anyway. This just keeps getting better and better with each listen. I know it is super early but this is definitely going to be on the shortlist of AOTY, she gave us bops, ballads, social commentary, jazz, bars and melodies!!! what else do ya'll want?!
Nico Robin Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Currently on Worth It, its a cute album. Not really what I listen to usually but Ill save like 3/4 songs
katysuxx Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 such a good album. the high quality production paired with the lyrical content and vulnerable delivery.. so atmospheric.
Sour Candy Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 This is genuinely even better than I expected and I LOVE Raye. So happy for her, she deserves the acclaim and success!!!
mynameispain Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 environmental anxiety actually grew on me
justin464 Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Wow this is an AMAZING debut! I don't think I disliked any song after my first listen. I was expecting Buss It Down to be a twerk anthem or something upbeat, but it actually ended up being one of my favorites 😂
SevenFootSounds Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Just as Escapism did, this will probably grow on me. Gonna give it a few more tries over the week.
SpaceOddity Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Oscar Winning Tears, Mary Jane, Five Star Hotels, Flip A Switch, Environmental Anxiety are ******* excellent, this album is a massive grower. Her pen craftsmanship is insane.
Virgos Groove Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 (edited) OWT -> HOH -> BM -> Escapism is THAT 1-2-3-4 punch EDIT: Fantastic album. Really eclectic and I love how each track builds up on the previous. Body Dysmorphia and Buss It Down aren't really clicking with me, but they're not bad by any means. LOVE the chaotic instrumentation on Environmental Anxiety. Very underrated track. Edited February 3, 2023 by ATWK
Burqa Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 (edited) my biggest issue with the album is that none of the album tracks are as strong as the singles. yes OWT, ICM, FSH, FAS and Mary Jane are all amazing but they don’t hit me as much as HOH or Escapism did Edited February 3, 2023 by Burqa
Alex Posted February 3, 2023 Author Posted February 3, 2023 Oscar Winning Tears is soooo good I wish Flip a Switch was the song they pushed with album release but there's always time to film a video for that smash another time.
tbhmatt Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 I think it’s a very strong debut album. It feels fresh and authentic and every song feels like a statement. Like someone else said earlier, this album is far from boring. You can’t help but have an opinion on it.

Agreed! That or 5 Star I think would do well with the GP

YoungDreamer Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 This is very Amy meets Fugees meets Lauryn Hill with a modern 808's spin on it I'm floored
