This is exceptionally good. The highs of this album are absolutely classic. So timeless. It’s actual music.

I hear a lot of influence from Physical, Graceland, Phil Collins, and of course, the modern music scene.

The critics will rave. Well done, Miley.

oh wow

cant wait to listen :jonny5:

Can't wait to hear the entire album. Did they sample Genie in a Bottle for this song? My two favs (no, not Sia).

Anybody noticed the “glitch” at 0:57-0:59 when she sang “cries” in Wonder woman? I thought my Spotify was glitching but then i played it on Apple music and it’s the same thing

Very excited to listen to this, it's finally out in my country in a couple of hours :duca:

This definitely sounds like all her eras merged into one.. feels like you can hear references to all her previous eras in all the music..

I love this concept, it sounds like a "coming full circle" moment since she's already been through so many different career stages in her life.

Jaded is a career highlight, please release it @Columbia

Just heard the iTunes previews.

the overreactions here lmao. Yeah it's not Plastic Hearts but it's still good.

Based on what I've heard, she should have kept Handstand. the dead petz vibez were not needed :rip:

You and Muddy Feat are okish. Who is it behind Violet Chemistry? :biblio: nevertheless the song is actually great.

The rest sounds pretty great actually.  Thousand Miles is serving pop anthem!

I'm not always right, but still, I ain't got time for what went wrong
Where I end up, I don't really care
I'm out of my mind, but still, I'm holding on like a rolling stone
A thousand miles from anywhere

this SMASH!

all the snobby music fans on here pretending to hate

when will they learn that atrl hates = global smash incoming

So basically it’s either that we love it and it’s a smash or we hate it and it’s a smash? It’s giving “whether you say yes or no to the question ‘are you racist?’, that just proves you’re racist” :gaycat6:

Btw, I really like this album. I’m just really tired of people like you who will claim that whether ATRL loves or hates an album, that makes it a smash. It’s giving insecurity :cm:

The bridge and final minute of “A Thousand Miles” is very Graceland. You will be pleased.

So after a couple more listens

Jaded feels like the most PH song on the record. Its good but the chorus is lacking.

Rose Colored Lenses is good too but the lack of rhymes during the first stage of the chorus tarnishes its catchiness imo.

Thousand Miles is great, i love that mix of country verses, pop rock chorus and synths at the start/ending. A highlight for me.

The live version of You is superior to this one. The percussion is just way too abrasive to work.

Handstand snaps. Most experimental song on the record and great for a transition to the second half. Only complaint is the abrupt ending.

River utilizes elements from Handstand and i love that about it. Mixing is a bit messy on the chorus but its also another highlight for me.

Violet Chemistry has the best bridge on the entire album but the chorus feels a bit empty. A strong one nonetheless.

Wtf is Muddy Feet lol. Sias harmonizations werent really needed and that song goes nowhere. I suppose the verses are interesting though.

Wildcard is the bookmark definition of filler track.

Island is another highlight. I love the way it constantly grows until it eventually shapes into a very nostalgic and catchy beach pop track.

Wonder Woman feels like a cover of some random 70s song. The fact that its a piano ballad makes it feel out of place here.

Best songs: Handstand, Thousand Miles, Island

Worst songs: Muddy Feet, Wonder Woman, Wildcard

Overall this album is a solid 7 for me. Could be better but maybe itll grow on me eventually.

Single 1: Flowers - Jan 13

Buzz Single: Rose Colored Lenses - Feb 24 (music video, no radio release)

Single 2: Jaded - March 10

Single 3: Violet Chemistry - June/July

River is such a risk, I can't @ them using it as the album release single

It’s a great pop album. Wildcard & Island were the only snoozers & they’re still very listenable songs. RCL & Handstand are all-time career highlights. The contrarian pre-emptive hot takes are just strange. What did people expect? It sounds like a nice blend of all her previous music

We were expecting another PH, and it takes at least 2 listens to make your peace with the fact that this isn’t that, and to understand that that’s ok and it’s still a great album.
