UnusualBoy Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 After playing the whole thing twice, this is my ranking: Flowers - 8/10 Jaded - 8.5/10 Rose Colored Lenses - 8/10 Thousand Miles - 6/10 You - 6/10 Handstand - 8.5/10 River - 9/10 Violet Chemistry - 9.5/10 Muddy Feet - 8/10 Wildcard - 9/10 Island - 8/10 Wonder Woman - 6/10 I think my least fave songs are the ballads, they lack the punch that ALY and NBM had.
goldstargay Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 how are ya'll able to get through the LONG spoken word part of Handstand -- it ruins the whole vibe
AFullMoonlight Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Never trust the comments on ATRL. There’s not a single bad song on this. My only criticism is that a lot of these songs could have been elevated with the vocal production giving a little more. Solid album though.
James_Dean Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Stay a while, stay a while with me (Oh, oh) Stay a while, don't deny the violet chemistry (Oh, oh) Stay a while, stay a while with me (Mm, no, oh) Stay a while, put your arms around me
Daddy Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Finally listened to the whole thing and she's sadly back to filler material.
sk8erfan Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Also screw the contrived AM/PM bs. Handstand needs to be the opener, rest of the track list remains the same. You goes perfectly into River and Flowers doesn’t work as an owl jug track imo
AFullMoonlight Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Island reminds me of La Isla Bonita. I think if they added some adlibs on the chorus similar to the ahhs ahhs ahhs in La Isla Bonita, it would’ve made the hook even stronger. I really like it as is though.
wish Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Thousand Miles is growingggg AM might be > PM, but the album just overall drops off after Track 9 for me
ryoncé Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 plastic hearts is 100000000000000000000000 times better and this is so meh in comparison truly a shame
Delusional Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 When atrl hates something it usually smashes cos ppl here have no taste so I am excited!
FlyOnTheWall Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Just read the lyrics on genius and they made me MUCH more optimistic again. They're amazing!
brooklyndaddy Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 I’m half way through and as someone who doesn’t usually care for her, I really like this. Dead Petz is the only album of hers I use because there’s texture and sounds like she’s having fun - I feel that here too. So far Headstand and River are my favs
raven Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Stand-outs: - River - Jaded - Rose coloured lenses - Violet Chemistry
James_Dean Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 This album is not what I was expecting... with PH it felt like Miley finally found her niche, while ESV feels like she took a back seat. Not a bad album per say, but I definitely expected more tracks like Handstand and Violet Chemistry. The rest of the album feels like a modern day Younger Now. It'll probably grow on me with time, but first listen is just so-so.
UnusualBoy Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Violet Chemistry may be one of her best songs, the song is an experience. I think it captures perfectly the idea of summer night with your partner.
My20sBlues Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 Slide Away could be a perfect closer and Taste Of My Own after Jaded, pff
wish Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 why does Wildcard sound like #that a few of these songs have questionable arrangements that detract from them, namely this & You
ChrisTheLoner Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 My cd came earlier than expected, it's not even out on streaming here yet Gonna listen to it now
Dr. Alexander Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 This is exceptionally good. The highs of this album are absolutely classic. So timeless. It’s actual music. I hear a lot of influence from Physical, Graceland, Phil Collins, and of course, the modern music scene. The critics will rave. Well done, Miley.
