Miley Cyrus - 'Endless Summer Vacation'

Muddy Feet is a bit weird but I like it, the chorus is so good, but the song is so short. Sia adds a nice touch towards the end

Everyone saying River sounds "dated," "like Bionic," "from 2007" and "from 2011" has me excited. Like come on gays lets not act like we didn't get our life to the mindless Femme Fatale/Loud-esque bops from that era. Give me the electropop NOW. I've been waiting for that sound to make a comeback ever since it left.

I haven't listened yet (gonna go out and make a day of it :gaycat5:), but I know it's common for ATRL (and myself) to dislike stuff at first and then warm up to it. I'm curious to see if, in a few days, everyone will suddenly switch, or if this really is gonna be one of her more lackluster efforts :deadbanana:

The song doesn't even sound dated, they think any song with dance or electronic touches is dated :rip:

Yeah I was surprised to hear that take, the snippet we got from the video teaser sounds very "80s revival in the 2020s" that people are eating up right now, which is very on trend. I'm excited to hear it!

Wait, Wildcat is really good, her voice shines through the whole song, although I think the song belongs in the first half of the album, it sounds out of place after songs like VC, River & MF.

Island is a summerish bop but I feel it lacks something and can't point out what.

the idea of putting the slowest ones at the beginning is deadly, right in the middle of the album you don't want to listen anymore and it's not like the PM side is that good, first impression

I'm on Thousand Miles right now, and I completely agree (barring the fact I've only heard three songs from PM).

Wonder Woman sounds gorgeous but I'm not sure if it works as a closing track.

I think one of the main problems of the album is that the tracklist order is a mess and doesn't really follow the AM/PM thing she said. It's also a bit over the place sound-wise, not as cohesive as PH.

Amazing, as expected :jonny:

I loveeee Ms Miley

Flowers - 7/10

Jaded - 9/10

Rose Colored Lenses - 8/10

Thousand Miles - 6.5/10

You - 6/10

Handstand - 8.5/10

River - 9/10

Violet Chemistry - 8/10

Muddy Feet - 7/10

Wildcard - 6/10

Island - 6.5/10

Wonder Woman - 5.5/10

Overall: It's a cute album, but I'm not wowed. A lot of this album is too background music, especially the last run of tracks. Her vocals do not shine in this album as much as they did in Plastic Hearts, and even highlights like Violet Chemistry suffer from overproduction/weird mixing where some of the magic gets lost. Some really fun sonic choices but there's some missteps too. Overall I'm a bit underwhelmed :emofish:

I love Jaded -> Rose Colored Lenses and Handstand -> River -> Violet Chemistry, there's definitely two good runs on this album so it's nothing to drag. But I expected more... the last few tracks were especially mid.

Jaded is my favorite :heart2: love it & I hope the GP makes it a single

first thoughts after first listen !!!

okay i actually am pleased to say i like this much more than i thought i would ! i don't think flowers is anything revolutionary (tbh most things on this album are not) but i do think it is a fun song! jaded, rose colored lenses, thousand miles and you were all great ! solid lowkey songs not too boring at all and thought the whole A.M. section of the album was fresh and light and i will have these songs on repeat all spring/summer most likely!!

actually was not crazy about handstand ☠️ the song felt really disjointed and the best thing about it is the instrumental but maybe with more listens i'll click with it. RIVER ON THE OTHER HAND WOWWWWW what a SONG !!!!! the production was outstanding it had me dancing the most out of any song this is truly one of her best !! i also did really enjoy violet chemistry and thought muddy feet was alright i'll probably grow to really enjoy it (glad sia is only in the outro).

wildcard is definitely my least favorite. i wasn't a fan of the structure of the song and probably the least memorable. island was cute but nothing outstanding. wonder woman tho... wow !!! this is like a classic song. idk if it's sampling the melody but it did sound really familiar to that "in the arms of an angel" song. i thought it was beautiful, gives me elton john vibes and thought it was a great way to send it out.

all in all i'm happy with this new output from miley and think it's a great follow up from plastic hearts (which also isn't a perfect album and didn't love when i first heard) so i think endless summer vacation will be up there with Bangerz and Plastic Hearts and my go to miley albums

whoever mixed wildcard needs jail time :mazen:

With River and Ellie Goulding’s Miracle released today, I can really see 2000s sounds coming back in music. Hoping the trend stays.

Jaded does sound like the perfect choice for third single.

Same

I think it’s gonna automatically flourish because it follows Flowers on the tracklist.

y’all are literally doing too much. this is easily her most cohesive and sonically exciting project. (minus muddy feet lmao)

violet chemistry, wildcard and handstand go hard

When it pulls a Kill Bill and makes itself the single over Filler :bird:

Handstand is definitely growing. A shame the monologue lowkey ruins it

Anyways, she really wanted her Grapefruit moment with RCL, huh

After being unimpressed by Flowers, I had some hope, considering Handstand was using in the album promotion, and that sounded great. Sadly, that is the only song I like on here. Harmony Korine co-wrote it-- I'm wondering if he was involved in the production of the song-- if he is, Miley needs to work with him more often.

But yeah, Jaded really should've been the second single. It's not better than Handstand, but it's like the only decent ballad here.

Bangerz even had more life! And I wasn't crazy about that album. I know Miley fans are gonna get sick of saying it, but Plastic Hearts remains superior.

Do ****** Up 4ever and Mirror belong to ESV sessions or PH?

Not Muddy Feet being an instant highlight for me :dies:

Upon first listen I think my favorites are Handstand, Muddy Feet, River, and Rose Colored Lenses. There’s not a single song that I outright didn’t enjoy, but I think some of the other album tracks are just slightly underwhelming (she does sound absolutely immaculate throughout per usual!)

Does Wonder Woman sample another ballad like song? Cause something about it sounds so familiar

I’ll have to take a listen. I’ll be back with my thoughts, if you even care.

I find it interesting that Thousand Miles isn’t getting more praise here. It’s easily top 2 of the AM side with Jaded :cm:

I don't get the hate for Wildcat, the chorus is so so so good and she serves vocals through the whole song.

Wildcat is so good i didn't expected to be slayed like that what a song
