This only includes her lead credits, if you add her features, she'd easily jump several more positions as she's at 6.6M with all credits.

Avril has never (and will never) do that. Xtina is still in Top 50 and you'll just have to deal with it. Christina jumped on a sure to be smash. That song was always gonna be a smash hit. The delusion Christina was releasing Bionics and Lotuses, her singles were flopping to oblivion, but somehow everyone ran to buy Say Something cause she was in it? The delusion.

As if A Great Big World was smashing before or after that song. The song worked cause the band and Xtina harmonized perfectly and the duet made it feel like lovers who were making their final plea. You can’t rewrite history as much as you’d like, just deal with the fact that Xtina helped bring something special and the duet is what people remember and bought/listened to.

People are consuming her version of the song way more, so yes: "Say Something" solo = 105.6M streams "Say Something" with Xtina = 918.5M streams Even A Great Big World themselves acknowledged this when they accepted their GRAMMY win for this song, saying, and I quote: "we would not be here without Christina"

On 1/2/2023 at 8:45 PM, Planet Mars said: There were several massively successful women artists in the 60's and 70's, it's just that music critics and historians have tended to overlook them for their male peers. Diana Ross/The Supremes, Linda Ronstadt, Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer were pulling numbers just as good as many of their male peers in their day but they'd never be treated with the same importance as The Beatles, Stones, Stevie Wonder, Bowie etc. unfortunately. + Janis Joplin, Karen Carpenter, Roberta Flack, Carole King, Dionne Warwick, Cher. All of them were racking up units and hits on the pop/R&B charts, but longevity of this magnitude requires placements in modern film, TV, and advertising. Other than "I Got You Babe" on Mad Men a few years back, not too many of their records are played prominently today.
