SM said other than new units for existing members and the upcoming japan unit that they're done debuting NCT groups with SM 3.0. Not shocking because the whole concept of NCT was Lee Sooman's weird obsession. He called the kpop version of the idol system which he popularized Culture-Technology and NCT was an ego trip for him personally wanting to be credited with reinventing the wheel twice by introducing "Neo Culture Technology" which was unfortunately not a group name but a lame business model, which is why literally all of the company resources went to them for a few years.

NCT 127 and Dream should have been actual boy groups and not subunits.

It had potential I would had loved an American version of NCT.

They eventually made it work and got millions in album sales, but it took a lot of forcing on SM's part when they had acts like Red Velvet and EXO selling millions of singles and albums respectively and outstreaming them worldwide for years-long stretches, neither of which got a proper push in US the way several NCT units have.

aespa's kinda running into the same problem where nobody gives a hell about their concept except people who don't go outside but SM is still pouring millions of dollars into bad student film tier youtube videos about naevis and black mamba and moving around Red Velvet schedules around them lol. Hopefully SM 3.0 helps with these random drains on company resources for imaginary innovator status, but given how much of kwangya was chris lee's idea, I'm not too hopeful.

I remember seeing on KPop Reddit that Red Velvet was concepted to be a female NCT but the reception to Yeri didn't get the favorable reviews SM hoped so they stuck to 5 members

The past few years have shown what Dream would have been capable of if they weren't stuck in 127's shadow as the secondary Korean unit. SM fumbled the bag so hard in so many ways during 3rd gen it's a miracle they're still the top company. I was really hoping a restructuring was going to happen. :gaycat6:

This was obvious from the start, what's surprising is Kim Petras being german and just having fun with her not noticing or if she did not telling her like that's insane:rip:

It's going to be years before the 4th gen girlies are doing US tours on the scale of Twice now. SNSD's successor did that, they didn't even need years of extensive promotions or payola here either. The future is bright for kpop. :jonny5:

Do you consider TWICE to be the gg leader of the 3rd gen like SNSD were for the 2nd gen?
