I think that people tend to forget that being on top50 on the charts is counted as a playlist reach too? :rip:

is it payola now that NewJeans got there before they were even added to TTH? something some groups never achieved, mind you… not to say staying there for days or months

It's multi-level marketing.  Not sure what's so difficult about this.  It's how kpop became a thing without anyone knowing about it.

also that NewJeans narrative of them being flops on yt, when they are almost at 1.2B views there (7 months)

for reference (last 12 months)

G Idle 1.35B

aespa 960M

itzy 1.2B

and for some reason it’s impossible to check it for IVE and Le Sserafim

truly embarassing to come for them in the yt department :rip:

And the fact Warner was in charge of Girls too :dancehall3: but it was for the best cause if Girls actually smashed then SM would never get humbled like they did

50% of the videos on aespa channel are literally shorts and Newjeans are about to surpass the amount of videos aespa uploaded in just 7 months :rip:

NewJeans does seem a bit faceless, and the members all look pretty similar.

theyre still very young tho and it would be awkward to have a 15 year old plastered everywhere tbf

 The only members that look similar are Hyein and Haerin

Minji, Hanni and Danielle look completely different

LD, After like,Antifragile also achieved big Spotify streams and were even bigger than Attention and yet they didn’t get a spot on TTH.

The reason why LSFR have low playlisting is because they didn’t enter Spotify top 50

also anti fragile had 62M

I was clearly speaking about Ditto and OMG. Attention got slight push but it didn’t really change anything at that time.

Then Hype Boy started getting more streams after they were gone from TTH. Then Ditto came with their biggest numbers yet and got added to the playlist long after the release. it was in the #50 all the time without it.

the slight push being a TTH spot? When no others k acts except BTS and BP were able to get one? Even if it didn’t do anything for Attention, Imagine LD, After like or Antifragile getting a spot too,It would have made a difference bc these songs were already performing very well.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with streaming playlisting it's just hilarious to me people were saying youtube was this manipulatable metric as if streaming sites aren't the exact same. I wish my faves were plastered everywhere on spotify to increase their reach :clap3: Nothing wrong with it, but denying it's impact on songs performance is the same as saying ads don't make a difference in YT views.

SM trying so hard to push their groups in the west but failing to payola them onto streaming playlists just shows they're out of touch. Going on some random morning show with 500k viewers of soccer moms isn't going to do as much as putting on NMF, TTH, etc.

Hybe is doing it right, their stans just need to stop acting like its completely organic and more impressive than youtube  :rip:

so did Attention as a debut song? also followed by Hype Boy? they were charting side by side for a long time

also, LD, AL and Antifragile are comeback songs, of course they would get bigger numbers first day than debut of the group with unknown members - yet they scored two smashes

and it’s not their fault they were doing good enough on their own without help in the first place, to get that extra push after some time after release

I remember people here saying that their yt views were bad (no ads), spotify upon debut meh (after being on yt for 2 weeks, no playlisting, added late on kpop playlists) - and then they were able to climb to 1m plays per song and staying stable there to get that TTH spot (35th place or something) and now Hype Boy just achieved all time high, 6 months in

ads are just added to the total count under the video - yt filters numbers too and it’s possible on the charts to see actual views

Spotify filters numbers too, to catch bots or mindless stans - in fact both yt and spotify have playlists, trending pages and charts

why is playlist reach in the same category as ads then?

I’m not talking about the first day peak.

Antifragile peaked at 1.6 million streams weeks after too, After like was still getting 1.2 million streams daily weeks after the release too.

How a song who got less daily streams than these songs and who didn’t even reach top 50 global of Spotify was qualified to get a TTH spot but the others don’t?

Does NewJeans have a separate single thread for OMG?

well, that’s a question to their labels? :flower:

NewJeans pulled off 3 singles at the same time and all of them charted very well (especially for a debut) so maybe Ador saw the chance and pushed them more? which clearly payed off. but it’s obvious they were still testing the waters with Ditto and OMG, since the former was added to TTH 3 weeks after the release and before that, it charted non stop in the top 50 - not for a day or two

Yeah let me question the label since only 3 Kpop acts only got a spot inside TTH.

Clearly not everyone have the connection despite their songs performing well too. And IVE didn’t just charted in Spotify global top 50 a day or two too :cm:

And to go back to the subject of Payola, A song who never reached the top 50 or top 60 of global Spotify was indeed payoled into TTH and nothing wrong with that.
