ITZY used to have crazy engagements in all of their non-MV material as well such as dance practices, performance videos, live stages etc.

Jiwoong, easy.

When I think about it.

I feel like Twice and Blackpink were the most influential girl groups on 4th and 5th gen girl groups (if we're even in 5th gen I don't know I still feel like 5th gen hasn't started).

I mean Twice was the one that made every company step their visual game up to the point where the "visual" position became pointless and moot. Pretty girl next to a pretty girl next to a pretty girl.  Before companies used to find some kind of balance. They knew not everyone would be stunning, but they needed folks who could sing dance....and Twice kind of demolished the industry by having everyone in the group be considered gorgeous from get-go with zero non-stunners. Now people struggle to identify who the 'visual representatives of this generation' are because it's like.... everyone's pretty so nobody really stands out to the general public the way a Suzy or a Krystal/Sulli could back in the day. Aside from Jang Wonyoung who was given that early aggressive push from her IZONE days and especially right before IVE's debut. Now and days, people just pick their favorites and everything is hotly debated because really there are no right or wrong answers.

Blackpink also started the whole - be an influencer thing and is the reason why you've got Kpop groups getting brand ambassadorships and being framed as 'high fashion.' Before K-POP was cool with being tacky and camp but now everyone's gotta look runway ready and be blood-tied to some couture fashion line or else they won't be considered successful. It's gotten so bad that I bet Kpop companies are actually paying fashion brands to let their groups be "ambassadors" because it's just another pointless marker of success now like selling 1 million albums first day/week (and nobody talks about the sales after the first week anymore). I wouldn't be surprised if either Kpop companies were paying for ambassadorships or taking a discounted price from the fashion companies just to get their faves at a met or a cannes.

In terms of music, the most influential group period on the 4th and 5th gen is BTS. Yes, I said it. Not because their music is good but because they made becoming successful in America a priority for K-POP companies more than ever, at a time when most companies had tried, failed and all but given up. Now everyone's trying to take the k out of kpop music, not just Hybe.

Hmm

I'm sorry but when I see a wall of text in an ATRL post I automatically assume it's the "no one wants to wake up to the news I woke up to this morning" copypasta

The song is literally going up on the charts every years. It's not out of nowhere. Now it's going higher due to the fact the ULs are on a all time low, so it'll be easier for them to go #1.

First Snow, Rain, Cherry Blossom Ending, As You Wish are the few seasonal song that keeps going up on the charts every year.

No it went high upto #200 or something like this.. not like literally #2 ..it specially went viral this year.

Low ULs dont mean rankings are false anyways. The number of ULs affects all the songs almost proportionately.
