YG got VERY lucky with a crop of trainees that were going to be stars with or without their company(GD, CL, Park Bom, Taeyang, etc) as well as with Teddy being a marketable producer. Yang Hyun-suk and the rest of that criminal enterprise misinterpreted these truths as evidence that their brazenly terrible business practices were sustainable in some way. Black Pink got a pass because they were the first time YG's sound wasn't being marketed through ugly or unlikeable(to the Korean GP) idols but that company has been creatively bankrupt for well over a decade. They've been propped up by a handful of big names who are popular in SPITE of YG, not because of it since 2nd gen. 

 

 

Batter Up is awful and babymonster is the most underwhelming GG debut by a big 4 in eons but everyone except Mel already knew that was happening.
