You forgot the point they were called **** by K Netz just for talking to TVXQ and SUJU and this collab..

I think people tend to forget how much problematic the kpop stans were back then.

you can just SEE that the beyonce/camila cabello is missing

an entire member is missing, where they didn't bother to adjust the choreo, so you can show the crowd in the moments it's her turn... and instead you choose the dance break to focus on the crowd (when all the dancers are actually there)

it's giving british daytime television camerawork

Those days were terrible for SNSD for sure but not as extreme as today where you can't even put females and males in one room or else all hell would break loose :bam:

Like Hyuna was rumored to have been IMPREGNATED by the lead singer 2PM Jay Park as the reason as to why she left Wonder Girls

k-pop boygroup stans have always had an extremely creepy relationships with their biases. Like that whole stereotype of where they would just straight up draw hentai of their biases :rip: 2nd gen boygroups would also do extreme fan service like acting overtly brotherly / making each other blush / straight up kissing each other to play into it

girl you just notice it more now because of twitter and international presence. nothing is as extreme as all boygroup stans SCHEMING together through a hate website dedicated to SNSD to collectively buy out the tickets and turn off their light sticks during SNSD's turn

Social media does sure changes everything but I would disagree, that 2nd Gen were just a lot better in terms of interaction between female and male idols like we wouldn't had this iconic shows and exchange in the first place. Now do this with any current

idols, their career will be ovah :intoit:

From the girls whose singing about defeating a giant snake to spicy/thirsty/salty & sweet femme fatale chanteuses. The major glow up :gaynetcat4:

It was mostly the boygroup stans. Those TVXQ and SJ stans were so nasty in the past.

For example I know Jessica was close with Donghae and Junsu in her trainee days and their crazy fans decided she was dating them and spread rumors and called her all kinds of names. When she debuted they increased it even more, so she got forced to address it on Radio Star.

Just look at the comments of this old blog from 2009 :shakeno:

Well technically she could, but whenever she tries in Korea...

A certain company pulls out shady tactics to try and block/interfere with her promotion

No, Twitter, the international platform, has made you aware. Korean social media / forums already existed and as someone who read a ton of translations back then, gen 2 stans were fckn vicious. They were racist, xenophobic, weightist, would call a girl out for being ugly and do it under every popular article she was mentioned in, would make up rumors about the girls they didn't like... like they straight up would try to ruin their careers. It still happens, obviously, with Soojin's case for example.

As far as those collabs go, they do collab lol. They even do fun stages together. It's just that none of them are even like this anymore. They can't serve this type of charisma by themselves let alone together. And after everything that happened to the 2nd gen groups, why would companies willingly put them through it? Jay Park had to leave due to a scandal that was found in his MySpace. Who do you think dug that stuff up?

Like they straight up nicknamed Hyoyeon Hyogre :toofunny3: and this isn't from a couple of haters, these b.tches would systematically upvote people calling her the ugly Hyogre that doesn't belong in the group to the point where it was the first comment shown under articles with thousands of upvotes every time it was something about her

It's like if the DailyMail was popular

Subsequently she would get less camera time, less lines, etc

Watching it back now it may seem funny 'cause the girls are funny and they make it seem like it wasn't a big deal, but it really was. Seeing Sooyoung laugh about her lack of lines and how early she had to get up in the morning for no reason becomes sad when you realize how many people called her SEA trash that ruined the group's visual. There's a reason why so many 2nd gen idols suffer from depression / took their lives
