Nothing against you personally, but I am in all of the MC related topics on ATRL and the majority of other peopel's fans showed very questionable behaviour. So, the sentiments spilling over is only natural. 

 

90% of everyone who is in this thread wants Brenda to be #1 just to spite Mariah. So, everyone has to bear the heat.

Tbh I prefer RATXT. AIWFCIY has gotten way way too overplayed. Everyone I know is sick of it. I think anyone who works in retail or food service especially absolutely despises it.

but the entire music market does not exist of 8 billion people nor does it include all countries around the world. 

 

Only like 25-30 countries even have a nationalized singles chart (out of 196), BB is providing charts fro countries such as Vietnam or Romania etc... and with that factored in, we have like 45 international charts (out of 196 possible ones).

 

Then again, not everyone is using Spotify. Furthermore, there are people whose consumption isn't tracked at all, people who spin the physical record. Over 14 million people own the actual CD (Merry Christmas) if only a fraction of those people uses them, then we have consumption lost.

 

All in all, a good 1,2-1,5 billion streams that's what her Christmas catalogue is currently doing, all services combined, and that is a HUGE chunk (I'd even say the entire) of the global music industry. 

 

The song is currently charting in almost all countries that have a chart. 

 

BTW, retail in GER is closed during Xmas and the song was played by over 3 million people on Spotify on Christmas EVE (while also being #1 on Deezer, YT and Apple Music). So, the claim that everyone hates the song...

Mariah certainly dropped a similar percentage. She just had a huge lead on #1 so its not down as many positions yet.

Like on Spotify Germany she was #1 on both the 24th and 25th, but one day with 3.3M and one day with 1M

It seems other Christmas songs might have their moment, but I am not thinking any of the classics like RATCT or JBR would be the ones to do it.  I'm thinking Ariana's Santa Tell Me or Kelly's Underneath the Tree.  Or a Christmas release from a current artist like an Adele Christmas album could certainly do it as well.
