This would be a read if Mariah wasn’t 32 years into her career, most (if not all) of our faves will be relevant 0 days per year by that point in their career :deadbanana4:

I don't understand why so many people are so over the edge to shade Mariah Carey for her success...

Mariah Carey debuted in 1990. We have the year 2022 (almost 2023). So, 32 later, she is still doing something.

The equivalent would have been that in 1990 an artist from 1958 who debuted that year would have been #1 on the H100. Except for Tina Turner, I do not think we have a lot of examples of that.

Tbh the change in streams for Xmas songs is probably a more accurate measure of Spotify’s growth, than people thinking Spotify is 2x as big as it was in 2020.

The way she doesn't have to do anything. Just wait for Christmas and smash every year :jonny5:

And her non-Xmas career (though Xmas is...still her career) was a beacon of longevity as well. IFPI #2 and Song of the Decade with a comeback album 15 years in, #1 after 18 years, Obsessed 19 years in, stadium tour in China in 2014.
