kishi Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Happy birthday Janet! Wishing you another iconic year of life! Please acknowledge the 20th anniversary of Damita Jo and give us some new music in 2024! 2
robbyds Posted May 18 Posted May 18 (edited) Janet is doing her thing! Hopefully the summer leg sells out eventually like the first leg and rakes in more. She actually still have many places she hasn't hit - other major cities in Europe, Asia, Australia/NZ, South Africa, Canada (outside Toronto), and of course she hasn't even toured Latin America even once. It's interesting to hear that she learns a lot last minute but it's clear she puts a lot of work into it. Queen Mother Janet in summary. Only a few days until we see opening night. I also keep having dreams of new album announcements

She just didn't work an inch from the past 5 years didn't she. I feel like Janet's main source of income right now is touring and a new album would be the perfect excuse to tour the state for the third time in 2 years. She won't waste an album while touring this leg. My bet and hope is next year and tour starts in the fall. 1

Cinq probably owns the masters to whatever she had been recording. They went after her putting up her entire back catalog for auction because she didn't deliver music to them. I wonder if she was secretly looking for another deal while still being signed to them. All the auctions and touring are probably being done to recoup whatever she paid them to get her catalog back, although no one knows if she did. Edited June 2 by Horizon Flame 2

That is 100% correct; when she told us she was working on things "in her backyard," she was dealing with Cinq Music basically holding her hostage in her deal. And she's working on new music, because she is unhappy with the product of what Black Diamond likely was becoming. Her own choreographer told us she wants to give us quality over a rushed finished product, and I respect that. Janet isn't going to half-ass anything. She isn't. And doing the TOGETHER AGAIN TOUR in 2023 was about recouping the costs, and now she's able to give us a better and bigger show. Once I get my Jennifer Lopez refund, I am getting Janet tickets.
robbyds Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Janet said in an interview with Ryan Seacrest that her issues with the label (presumably Cinq) has been solved and new music is on its way. 1

Caught this too. Low-key annoyed by her not capitalizing on her charting comeback potential with and post Unbreakable. But at this point I'm just gonna sound like a broken record, so won't harp on. I can only hope they mount a respectable album-focused campaign that "at least" earns her a solid debut on the Billboard 200. Manifesting that whichever label Janet goes with this time being able to pull off what BMG UK has pulled off (and continues to pull off) for Kylie. Long pre-order window, lots of variants, and tasteful yet concentrated promo. We'll see. 3

She hasn't have a good album rollout/campaign since forever it seems
LuckyCunt Posted June 4 Posted June 4 I swear she better not be up there in turtle necks again. Too many deep cuts can be risky. I'll just zip it till I see the set list tomorrow.
Oktober Knight Posted June 4 Posted June 4 I'm curious about the songs she's never preformed before. Prayers for getting some 20 YO love
