He shouldn’t be counted out due to the simple fact that he has a lot of supporters who don’t gaf about any Republican candidate but him and won’t vote otherwise…..but democratic turnout this year was mediocre, I can’t see that being the case if he’s on the ballot in 2024, and in this environment, the fact that swing voters went this hard against his candidates….it’s an incredibly bad look on his end. Add to it: in an R+3 year, in exit polls, he had a higher unfavorable rating than Biden by 6 points :rip:

Ah, yes; when voters reject conservatives for virulent transphobia, fascism and racism, the intended message is "AND SUPPORTING UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE IS JUST AS BAD! DON'T DO IT! WATCH OUT!"

Odd how it won't be mentioned how the centrist Abrams with no coherent policy message lost the Georgia governor race in a landslide yet a left-liberal framing himself as a fierce student debt forgiveness warrior has now won 4 statewide GA races in under 2 years. :celestial5:

Abrams is painted as an uber progressive here because of her focus on identity politics and alienating white male voters by calling them a "good ol' boys club." Democrats' takeaway from her loss will be that they need to tack to the center and pick a Blue Dog white man as a result. :michael:

As for Warnock, his win will be taken as "he's a religious man of God" which obviously makes him a moderate, and his policy proposals will be overlooked.

I mean, sure. And I've been saying it from the beginning, back when some posters in this very thread thought Biden was slated to lose a Biden v Trump re-match. :gaycat3:

But honestly, it's bigger than Trump. That whole PARTY is dealing with a mind virus more contagious and destructive than COVID. The way they're outwardly toxic and pathethically terminally online... I mean... look at what an inspiring message:

Any worse and even the biggest losers in politics (aka leftists/Justice Democrats), who are just as terminally online, might have a chance at swiping some seats in red districts.

Like what do the GOP even represent anymore? :deadbanana4:

It is horrifically stupid how they framed this article, but it is fair to point out that in states like GA (which “tilt” R) you can’t solely rely on just the Democratic base to win. BUT Warnock governs like a solid center left Democrat, who’s generally well liked by all fractions of the party.

Honestly, not enough is written about Matt Cartwright in the House. He continues to win in a trump +3 district, while being a supporter of Medicare for all

Katie Porter is similarly ignored outside of MSNBC, and is actively sidelined by Democratic leadership who see her as attention-seeking and performative, even though her progressive bona fides and her white board have won more than once in a red district.

At least Katie is liked and appreciated by Democratic “base” voters. Hardly anyone knows who tf Matt Cartwright is, and this is how he’s rewarded

He runs in a MUCH tougher district than Spandberger (she’s like D+2, he’s literally an R+3) and he’s been winning there for almost a Decade :rip:

Spanberger is a CIA spook though, so it's not surprising Dems would rally to her, lol

Tr*mp said he thinks the constitution should be ripped up, so I would think he has little to no chance being elected at this point.  The GOP prides itself on being the “party of the constitution” and love to take it literally, so idk how they could get around that while supporting him.  As it is, DeSantis is already stealing T’s base and he is actually mentally stable.

TBH this comment scares me. The GOP stands for abosultely nothing anymore but their behavior is sooo tribal that it took a run off to win Warnock's seat.

The fact is Democrats fight each other while Republicans fall in line.

Under someone who has the same or similar views as Trump, but without the criminal record, we don't stand a chance.

Are you aware of how red Georgia is? Warnock winning by almost 3 is like winning Michigan/Pennsylvania by 8….a bunch of candidates for incredibly important positions with similar views to trump ran and lost this year in critical swing states (AZ AG, AZ Governor, AZ SOS, AZ senate, NV senate, NV AG, NV SOS, WI gov, WI AG, WI SOS, MI Gov, MI SOS, MI AG, PA Gov, PA senate, GA senate, etc).

Literally all those positions with people endorsed by Trump, all lost

Trump is going to lose if he doesn’t end in jail first or worse, he loses to desantis :rip: The girls are over him.

Him losing to Desantis would send him over the edge :rip: losing his base/cult following in his own party is his version of hell

I agree with all of that, but I don't think Warnock would have won against a center right candidate with good qualifications to run for office that was not endorsed by Trump.

To me Stacy was supposed to win GA Governor, but the governor separated himself enough from Trump to not be associated with him, but also didn't hate on him, when voters came out to vote. The independents there still lean right.

Stacy was never gonna win. Her time to do so was 2018. Brian Kemp has a 58% approval rating in the most red leaning swing state in the country, in an R+3 year, and she’s an election denier. She was never gonna win, and she was never favored to do so..

I didn't know her chances were that low. Thanks for the info.

What do you think about what's happening in Florida to Marco Rubio. Will he ever lose his seat? Was this information held until after the election?

FL is gone for Dems. Gone. Every demographic there that favors democrats nationally (with the exception of African American voters) favors the GOP. Even young voters there favor the GOP. It’s about to legit be one of the reddest states in the country, and there is no changing it

Which is insane. Their only “victories” were flipping the House, when they had to do next to nothing to do so, and they literally have an unworkable majority. Kevin McCarthy doesn’t even have the votes to become speaker :rip: and then flipping the NV Governor race. They also did well in house races in New York and California, but if trumps on the ballot in 2024, those NY house races in NY are basically Manchin in WV: DOA.

This isn’t meant to praise Dems and call them great (because they’re far from it), but it’s just the facts: this was one of the best midterm performances for a party in power ever, only beat by 2002, which was after an international tragedy that United the country in ways it’ll never be United in, ever again, and even then, bush still lost incumbent senators in his party, which didn’t even happen this year and hasn’t happened since 1934 :rip:

Basically: MAGA is almost as scary to a lot of the American electorate as 9/11 :rip:
