Elusive Chanteuse Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 The general idea is correct though. People naming one off movies/franchises lol
midnightdawn Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Time for her to trip over something again and try to appear relateable.
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 I know JLaw probably was fan girling over Viola Davis but girl... Female-lead action films weren't THAT many pre-2012 but Hunger Games obviously not the first one She should've said that the HG franchise birthed Teen Dystopian films in the 2010s

Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 I know that these films are a bit forgettable but these 3 movies were released few years before The Hunger Games and they were successful on the box office Also let's not forget about this iconic film that ending the 20th century with a BANG
VVVVVV Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 They are many action fimls with lead actresses. The most important ones are the sagas of Resident Evil abd Underworld. Then are so many: So Close, Charlie Angels, Aeon Flux, Fifth Element, Avatar, DOA, DEBS, Species, Kill Bill, Atomic Blonde, Ultraviolet, Salt, Tomb Raider, Catwoman, Bounce, Electra, Salt, Barb Wire, Tank Girl, Terminator, Alien, Faster Pussycat Kill Kill, Hanna, Revenge, Van Helsing, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Planet Terror, and many others...
perfillusion Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 And don't forget Chalie's Angels (2000) which had a record breaking opening weekend and not only starred women but was produced by Drew

Jack! Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Whilst the logistics of the comment she is making is incorrect, and for all I'm not her biggest fan, the contextual point of what she is saying is true. Female leads in action movies tend to be over-sexualised and therefore the intention behind them being there is more than likely going to be misconstrued by straight male fans. Franchises like Tomb Raider (pre reboot) and Resident Evil were notorious for this both in-game and on-screen. The MO of THG was never to have Katniss seem "hot" or have her in near enough a two piece. I guess there is something respectable in that.

IVY Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Lol is she serious? Not to mention Angelina Jolie but Sigourney Weaver says hi. She's one of the most overrated actresses ever.
