Taylor literally tried and failed to get an Xmas hit. Keep it cute.

Doesn't matter when she is smashing We Belong Together style with Anti-Hero and Midnights :gaycat1:

So basically that last minute push helped Anti-Hero to stay at #1:

Aiding its sales sum, 10 previously-released versions of the song (its original, acoustic and instrumental versions; mixes featuring Bleachers; and its ILLENIUM, Jayda G, Kungs and Roosevelt remixes) were made available again in Swift’s webstore, discounted to 69 cents each, from late Nov. 30 through Dec. 1.

I don’t think you can really “get” a Christmas hit and I’m sure Taylor knows that. They are songs that get bigger over a longer period of time :gaycat6:  Just because she performed it once or twice and released one alternate version doesn’t really mean she was pushing for it to be a holiday classic or anything.

OT: Anti Hero a HIT :clap3:

AH six weeks :clap3:

Hopefully it can bounce back in January.

The Christmas slaughter. :deadbanana2:

I wish Underneath The Tree and Santa Tell Me can go top ten too.

AH is a smash, I fear Taylor didn't have to go the BTS route to get these past 3 weeks at #1.

All you need to do to "get a Christmas Hit" with a new song is paying for Christmas playlists. Most of Chrismas songs are insanely playlist driven and that's why Chrismas songs chart on Spotify Global in the exact order they are placed on the Chrismas hits playlist.

If she feels like she needs one, it is all up to her pocket. Looking at Anti Hero's performance and her getting another smash hit, i doubt she will feel like that anytime soon tho.

Ugh, if we are in the mid 2010s Anti-Hero won’t have problem staying at #1 during the holidays, thanks to iTunes gift cards :(

The delusion. Xmas songs build organically over years. Those songs were classics for years before streaming (AIWFCIY was eligible for top three in 2005 but couldn’t chart due to billboard recurrent ruled at the time.) The playlists are curated based on streaming figures and popularity rather than the other way around, and the vast majority of playlists are user-generated.

The GP just isn’t here for Christmas Tree Farm, I’m afraid.

Not true and Ed's song from last year proves otherwise.

Why would you contradict yourself like that

Why are people so hurt over Taylor blocking a christmas song in early december? We all know most of these christmas songs streams are coming from stores, work environments, christmas markets, playing playlists etc its not like most people are listening to christmas music at home or something the whole month :skull:

Mariah will get her time when its near christmas time. It’s gonna take her at least four more years to overtake Lil Nas X’s record and by then a new song might secure it before hers too. Chill a bit. Y’all were ruthless with Brenda too

It’s not a contradiction despite your attempt at eliminating the rest of my post. Taylor’s is not following that trajectory.

Ed’s song that is currently N/A and didn’t make the top 50 in the US? A Christmas standard? We have to laugh.

If Mariah continues to get three weeks each year she could earn her record back in two or three years.

She should be at 11-12 weeks after this season, just 7 weeks shy of the record.

So Mariah had the most streamed song according to Billboard, all predictions were wrong.
