Blackout2006 Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 With this decade, we have seen many pop acts dominate the scene but two major male pop acts have managed to carve a very strong and impactful presence so far into the decade- Harry Styles and The Weeknd Both have had successful albums, sales, hits, acclaim, smash tours, iconic moments, longevity, dedicated and massive fanbases, etc. However, which one of these two are currently bigger than their counterpart? Vouch for your opinion in the poll
vale9001 Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 The one can open number ones movies at the box office too and is not doing Europhia carbon copy television.
Into The Void Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 honestly kinda hard to say i think The Weeknd but Harry is sure riding on his coat tails
Planet Mars Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 The Weeknd. He's the #1 male act of the decade thus far, maybe with the exception of Drake.

Rev8 Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 The Weeknd overall but Harry will probably be bigger this decade Love them both best pop boys
unclefloprry Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 Bad bunny #2. The Weeknd the industry plant is nothing without payola, look Golden and MFASR

Or just in Latin America/USA. Because Bad Bunny is big in Latin America/USA. But in Europe, Asia and Australia I don't think thats the case.
RihFenty20 Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 The Weeknd overall. But currently, Bad Bunn y is trending better. So, I'd say it's a tie. We have to see how their next efforts perform. I have high expectations for both tho.

Because to dominate you need to dominate the globe. Not just one part of it. Bad Bunny is literally not relevant in Europe or Asia.
Gorjesspazze9 Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 Harry’s domination is exaggerated. He had 2 hits and one smash album and suddenly people are calling him King of Pop in the same span of time the Weekend actually has one of the biggest Songs of all time. 3 Smash era’s in the last 7 years, and actually has impact on music scene. It’s not really a competition. Harry just has a fan base, and One D clout from a decade ago.

The fact you don't understand the streaming market and how it becames bigger and bigger and you call every #1 of the most recent year the biggest song of all time.

Feanor Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 Well, according to the IFPI, The Weeknd is leading out of these 2 names: 2020: #4 The Weeknd | N/A Harry Styles 2021: #6 The Weeknd | N/A Harry Styles I believe Harry will 100% chart on the 2022 list, probably in the top 5 even. But The Weeknd may too, in the lower half perhaps, and even if he doesn't, he'd still have those first two years where he was above Harry, so I'd say The Weeknd is still leading as of now.

And let's not forget the fact "As It Was" - Harry's biggest hit - would have never been created had "Blinding Lights" not become the era-defining smash it did. The direct influence is so transparent and blatant Harry Styles is a talented guy and has everything to carve a nice path for himself. His self-titled debut and "Fine Line" are wonderful showcases of his potential. But this forced overhyping by the industry needs to stop, especially at the expense of non-white artists like Bad Bunny and The Weeknd, who let the music speak for itself instead of having PR fluff pieces shoving their so-called 'boundary-pushing greatness' down our throats. OT: The one who has 10 songs from four different projects doing 1B+ streams on Spotify Global these past few days - three of them being deep cuts (including an interlude) which got viral traction thanks to TikTok and have consistently stuck around for more than six months (and "After Hours" title track - with 6:01 in length, should follow a similar trajectory). The one who got a track from 6 years ago set to become a hit in 2023. The one who was the fourth most streamed artist on Spotify this year despite his latest album underperforming (Harry is not in the top 5 despite having the most streamed song of the year). As far as biggest male pop acts of the 2020s go, Bad Bunny is the only one able to challenge The Weeknd...
inmymendes Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 If they were both to release albums and singles tomorrow, Harry would debut at #1 and definitely outsell The Weeknd, especially in pure sales & vinyl. Harry is bigger and more famous right now
