Taylena Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 This is fantastic! Are people trolling pretending 8.2M streams is bad? Pls be real.
Hot Volcano Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 This being her comeback single was such a mistake

Probably goat vocal impact. It's done better than any other soundtrack single that came out in the last 4 years...including your faves so please take a seat. 33 minutes ago, WeFoundTrouble said: Well most, if not all(?) of the Top 10 debuts this year were from Taylor’s Midnights debut day, as all 13 of the standard tracks pulled 9M+ streams or more first day. I couldn’t tell you what else had big debuts this year outside of Unholy though. I mean that make sense since it's the Taylor album bomb. Unholy did 2.75 million day one. I think As It Was was the biggest before the Taylor bomb.

And BP is not what the GP would associate with Rihanna so 10+ was a crazy prediction. This is still a really great debut for a soundtrack gig in recent times. You can't compare this to BP1 anyway. BP soundtrack has bunch of hype around it because Kendrick was announced as curator during filming. All the Stars released a full month before the film. This barely got confirmed until 3 days ago . The idiots yelling it has promo are losing it cuz most likely most of the GP probably didn't even know this existed until they hit played on their Spotify/Apple Music. Only people who knew this are people who actively follow Rih and stans. And for that this is a good debut. Let's see how it does after the movie is out.

I know you can chalk it up to the hype of her comeback from a musical hiatus + being attached to what WILL be the biggest film of 2022, but it’s still wildly impressive for a soundtrack song to debut on par with actual singles. This is not a song for Avatar: The Way of Water though

It won't do a bigger number on release week but it will keep it from free falling. People really expected 10m+? If this was the first single from R9 I would understand but for BP soundtrack slow ballad?
mael Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 Like with most RiRi singles it will serve longevity!!!
Mr. Duff Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 Well Rihanna is never one to get huge debuts so I think this is fantastic.

Theres an utter difference between those tracks as to this track. This track is Rihannas comeback song and is for one of the biggest movies of the year… so everybody knows it. Even my sister texted me about it. No excuses
Hitchhiker Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 I could not even sit through the entire song but still great numbers and it’s amazing to pull this high after 6 years of nothing congratulations to Rih
coolblue Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 Im sure it will be a Always remember us this way sized smash in no time (a song released in 2018 when Spotify audience was much less compared to 2022)
RihFenty20 Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 (edited) Source? 8M is huge for a ballad. I expected a bit more, but this is very impressive nonetheless (if true). I’m positive it’ll have longevity too. Edited October 29, 2022 by RihFenty20
favorite crime Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 8M is terrible for Rih's first single in 6 years, what are y'all on. Adele did 20mil with a ballad. The song is just simply terrible and I'm sure the streams will collapse in the coming days. If she had dropped something as good as All The Stars it would have done 15mil+
BadMonster96 Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 TERRIBLE number! 6 years of hiatus for this FLOP, TANKED, PANNED, HAGGED!

Edited October 29, 2022 by CaptainMusic
Nip Tuck Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 This is good for a slow ballad soundtrack single. It was never going to be a huge smash hit so 8M is very impressive. Hopefully it has some longevity.
Rep2000 Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 This is actually very good number for a soundtrack.

IDWLF is global smash, however majority of her soundtracks basically for flop indie movie except Safe & Sound. Best comparison should be Hold My Hand considering BP and Top Gun are one of the biggest movies in recent years.
