I can’t believe that one of their best songs has never been officially released. This could be the folkier sister of I’m Here :chick3:

Blue Dress, Baby Lay Your Head Down, Sunchoke, Talking in My Sleep, Love You This Way, and Open to Something are all top tier and that’s that on that

I hate how the Dolby Atmos mix is only on Apple Music while on Amazon Music is just in lossless, not even Hi-res.

I’ve been listening to this album so much recently. The weather has been lovely in England recently and this album has just been speaking to me.

I agree but you could have even said tracks 1-11 are all top tier and I would have agreed. :bird:

So when can we expect that deluxe edition they were talking about at one point? :chick1:

I think releasing this in March was a disservice tbh. it’s such a summery album, they should’ve waited till late May or June

Yea as someone who wasn’t really tuned into the singles or album when they first dropped, I’ve been getting some mileage out of this. Especially in the nicer weather

They were having writing sessions this month that could possibly go towards that - so it's a long ways off if it is going to happen - but it doesn't sound like they're interested in releasing a deluxe the last time they spoke on the subject.

Well, I rather have another album or EP instead of a deluxe.

Liked this album a lot, but didn't love it like their prior album.

I’m fine with whatever they’re working on going onto their next project tbh. With Love From as a release overall felt inspired by their desire to go back on tour again so I’m ok if they’re gonna leave the album as it is after the tour ends.

I get that but considering how early they started the era it only made sense to release it as soon as possible especially with them wanting to tour

Was this from their Hothouse era if so they need to figure out logistics and put this out to streaming asap

I'm perfectly fine with them touring and us moving on to a new era frankly this was fine but not my cup of tea. I think that they're very aware that as much as the album was good it's not what we wanted. It kind of came of as like b sides to their previous album if that makes any sense. Probably influenced them recording new material. I think we're all just grateful to be getting new music so we're taking what we can get. Even though it's not bad they've set the bar so high lol

It’s actually from the era that had The Next Worst Thing etc - the album that was shelved with Hollywood Records.

Do they own that and can they release it? Not for nothing but if they were able to release Hothouse on vinyl then no reason why they can't just slap it on their spotify page. It's been 10 years i believe they can do it as an anniversary gift for the fans.

I think it’s because Civilian and the rest of that album are owned by Hollywood Records, so they wouldn’t be able to release it anywhere.

After they left Hollywood Records they went independent, so they own the rights to their recent releases.

I wonder if they are (or will be able) to buy their back catalogue including that unreleased album.

And I also wonder if Hollywood Records are willing to release that unreleased album (with A&A consent and maybe working together for the promo).

I know it's been more than a decade but Aly & AJ are very relevant right now and their fanbase grew a lot.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure they've either stated plainly or alluded to truly disliking the shelved Hollywood Records material (and even Hothouse for that matter a biT.) I mean they could have easily put HH on streaming at any point in time and they still choose not to so the idea of them even considering negotiating with their old label to release an even older album they don't like seems impossible.

For the record, I think 78violet is an amazing album and I'm happy we have the tracklist and at least medium quality versions of every song on it but that ship has sailed unfortunately. If Hollywood Records ever decides to 'open the vault' so to speak as like a marketing gimmick/campaign then maybe but even then I don't think A&A would want any part of it.

Totally understand that, but I really thought they liked to collaborate with Rivers Cuomo from Weezer and Nancy Wilson from Heart.

I remember they mentioned how proud they were regarding working with them on those songs.
