Delirious Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 You know what I need? An album just of super generic trendy Ellie aka a trap pop album. The COLLAPSE that would be it'll get panned critically and by fans left and right but the locals and I will EAT this up!!! 1. Close To Me 2. How Long 3. Over Me 4. On My Mind 5. Hate Me 6. Codes with a more trappy production etc.
skwonderfactory Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 This is by far her best album and quite an immaculate pop record. Here’s my current ranking after two listens: 1. “Like A Saviour” 2. “Let It Die” 3. “By The End Of The Night” 4. “Midnight Dreams” 5. “Tastes Like You” 6. “Higher Than Heaven” 7. “Loves Goes On” 8. “Cure For Love” 9. “All By Myself” 10. “Intuition” 11. “How Long” 12. “Better Man” 13. “Easy Lover” featuring Big Sean 14. “Just For You” 15. “Temptation” 16. “Waiting For It” Keep in mind prior to yesterday, I had only heard “Easy Lover” and “Let It Die” and none of the pre-release singles, I didn’t even know “All By Myself”. While Brightest Blue is a very solid record, I feel this captures the spirit of Ellie more and calls back to themes seen on Halcyon and Delirium, with some of the sonic influences of those peaking through on Higher Than Heaven as well. Yesterday during my first listen, I was reading the official lyrics from CD booklet scans and there are multiple typos and even a few lines that are straight up only partially correct of what Ellie is singing . It’s so rare you see this and her first album that has this issue. Here is my album ranking: Higher Than Heaven >> Brightest Blue >>> Delirium > Halcyon >> Halcyon Days >>>> Lights = Bright Lights >>> EG.0

ahauntingnearu Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 (edited) I can easily say this (a) matches Halcyon as my favorite EG album, just depending on whether I want fun/happy (HTH) or sad/dark (H), and (b) is my third favorite album of the year after Jessie and Lana. She did THAT! My mom loves it too Edited April 8, 2023 by ahauntingnearu

halcyonday Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 It's hard for me to judge and compare this album to the rest of her discography. Especially considering her previous albums were like this to me: She used to always hit me right in my feelings so BB was such a miss for me I can still appreciate several tracks tho. This feels like the more "pop perfection" version of Delirium, which I don't mind. Delirium had more various sounds and was more interesting and diverse, but this has the similar feel to 2022's Album Of The Year "The Kick" or this year's "Diamonds & Dancefloors". I love it, but I can agree it can sometimes feel like one long dance track, which isn't the worst, but also not the best. The Kick has the perfect mix of different sounds and banging anthems, while this only has the second part of it. Is it better than Brightest Blue? Probably yes, imo. It will surpass it in my scrobbles for sure, but I can still appreciate the range the showed with that record. Halcyon and Lights are so unique it's hard to compare to them, while with Delirium, it's almost like two sisters that have their own world. I do feel like Delirium has bigger duds (the deluxe tracks always blended together for me and I can't tell them apart year after. What the **** was Paradise? Winner? Heal?) At the same time Delirium has her best song Love Me Like You Do, and her cute babies Something In The Way You Move, Army, and highlights such as Holding On For Life and Aftertaste. HTH feels like almost each track is that great strong 8.5-9/10 in pop perfection terms, but is there even one ultimate 10/10 like Love Me Like You Do or Lights? I'm not sure, it will take some time. FAVORITES FOR NOW: Midnight Dreams By The End of The Night Like A Savior Easy Lover Higher Than Heaven Just For You Temptation Tastes Like You She redeemed herself after a rough start with the era
SeeingStars1515 Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 Im obsessed with tastes like you. what a perfect pop song.
