After the first 3 months of 2023, she is at 350M streams ahead of Bad Bunny and currently doing 20M more daily on average. It's looking more and more likely that she'll end up the #1 artist of 2023. :clap3:

A TV release would seal the deal, but Bad Bunny could also release and ruin it.

Those numbers are INSANE :rip:

When she took her music out of spotify years ago i never thought she would end up with numbers like this in the future, i never thought she would actually overtake Ariana Grande, who seemed to be the ultimate Spotify Queen for years.

I never thought there'd ever be a realistic chance for her to pass Bad Bunny and Drake in total but there is a very real chance in 2 years depending on when she releases the other TVs

I do hope she's gonna surpass them eventually but if she doesn't it's not the end of the world, i want her to be #1 for women more than anything. I rarely compare female stats with male stats since male artists have huge advantages in general due to demographics.

The next (non-TV) album has a decent shot at a 2M debut right?

Another 1M is pretty much a guarantee but 2M would be difficult even for her.

If the vinyl market keeps growing I could see her selling 1M vinyl and then keeping the same sales breakdown from Midnights (450-500k SEA, 550k CDs/digitals) if that release happens in 2024 (especially if she does another US tour leg). Anything too close to Midnights release or too far from it, or if the vinyl market doesn't keep growing like it has, and it won't happen

I don't think so, like at all.

Everything, literally everything was perfect leading to Midnights' release. A new album when everyone was expecting a TV, everyone was wondering about the sonic landscape of the album, and the marketing was tailored to perfection to have out of this world hype to drive a monster first week. And even with that, she "only" reached 1.6M units.

I don't think she can go much higher than that. Even replicating that would be an absolutely insane achievement.

Unfortunately, with the unprecedented success she is seeing at the moment, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before this success starts leading to some kind of backlash (like it always does for female artists).

Bad Bunny has Coachella this month, that could give him a sizable streaming boost, so we should watch out for that.

But yes, if there's a year where she can finally be the #1 artist on Spotify, it's this year. :eli:

Bad Bunny is probably out of reach, because once he drops another album, he'll do like 100M streams daily :gaycat6:

But her surpassing Drake's lead streams seems pretty inevitable at this point. She's almost doubling his current streams, and that's with him having dropped 2 studio albums in the past 12 months. And the markets where Spotify keeps growing the strongest (Asia & LATAM) use Taylor more than they use Drake, so the gap will just widen.

I'm not a Bad Bunny fan but i have nothing against him, i like how vocal he's been in his support of LGBT people. I guess it's better him than f*cking Drake, who i can't stand

Eh, there's little evidence at this point that BB is more than a fad. Let's check in again in a few years.
