What_A_Mess Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 It’s crazy to think that just a few years ago there was a time when she was only no. 10 in these spotify top 10 female list and n/a in the overall artist list. Now her streams are bigger than bad bunny and Drake which I never thought was possible. Her career needs to be studied tbh.

I genuinely believe no other female artist EVER had a year as big as 2023 has been for Taylor I'd really like to see a breakdown of biggest years by total album-equivalent units. I have no doubt that her 2023 would demolish the next closest year at this point.

Taylor's success this year has been a one-in-a-century kind of success, i really need to see who's the second biggest artist overall (and i bet it won't be a woman ).
Galah Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 It's weird to think that in a year or so when TS11 drops we could be looking back at this moment like, "Wow, she's even bigger now than she was during 1989TV release week!" The trajectory just keeps going up.
Mocha Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 say what you want but we need to be grateful that she's blocking drake, travis and phone thrower from leading the top spots 1 1
dumbsparce Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 I'm confused. How is 1989 TV the most streamed album in a single day when it did 10 million less than Midnights?

I don’t know this for sure but I’d imagine Celine has to be one of these right? Maybe even Mariah? Some point mid-90s. 36 minutes ago, dumbsparce said: I'm confused. Taylor as an -artist- has the highest streams for a single day today because of her entire discography combined beating out the numbers her discography as a whole pulled on Midnights release day

How is 1989 TV the most streamed album in a single day when it did 10 million less than Midnights? The 260 million is for the Artist's total consumption: 1989 and any other albums and songs that are streamed. So Taylor has 176 million streams for 1989, but she also happens to have an additional 84 million streams for other albums and songs such as Cruel Summer, etc.

Some point mid-90s. Not sure on the numbers, but a couple solid guesses in my opinion would be Celine in 1997, Mariah in 1993, Madonna in 1986, Shania in 1998, and for men, Michael Jackson in 1983. The latter and Madonna's are a lot tougher to accurately figure out because it's before Soundscan and other similar systems. The Beatles might have also had a couple crazy individual years, but it's even harder to tell exact figures that far back unless they were published in an industry source (and even then the reliability isn't perfect). 1

Spotify put out a tweet that implied it's the biggest debut of all time but then I looked at the numbers vs Midnights and I was left scratching my head. Edited October 29, 2023 by dumbsparce
