In a sad depressing truth, most gays can only relate to some sort of trauma bonding/experience. For Dahmer, it was that uneasiness and danger of those underage hookups that leave a scar. The number of gays who lead lives akin to standard upper middle class straight people is the tiny tiny minority.

Problem is it appeals to the older crowd, with it being R rated.

 

That crowd ain't showing up for a gay rom com, and young people can't relate to his brand.

 

I actually think it would surprise if its a YA gay rom-com geared towards the younger audience, who are hungry for a good LGBT film.
