You clown, he doesn’t regret it because he doesn’t want to own them, he regrets it because it ruined his image and it made him look like a shady businessman. He made a **** ton of money sadly and her catalogue, both old and new, is worth so so much that anyone who owns her masters is exorbitantly wealthy. F*cking dumb ass

and the quinceañera drag doesn’t even make sense, who tf is playing folklore or evermore or reputation at a quinceañera. Hell who is playing ANY Taylor music at a quince. It’s such racial ignorance I can’t even bother to debunk it.

ignore this fifth harmony stan

I also am a fan of Taylor's music so ?

I am ambivalent on Scooter, I do not care for him as a person at all.

:coffee:

While I don't think the masters thing is a big deal for a massive millionaire like Taylor Swift, nor do I think Scooter was necessarily evil (Scott Brochetta on the other hand), I am proud of Taylor for re-recording her music. I don't know if it's the best route long-term but at least it's her artistic integrity she's prioritizing (and the additional millions she's making off of it).

if you say so, if i was a lovatic i wouldn't have reasons to like him but everyone is free whatever they want, Scooter speculated with her masters so the re-buy wouldn't be fair, it looks shady yes, it is not because it's about Scooter

It’s really funny how every time a Scooter / Taylor thread gets made with any new comments from either party, people run to show their ignorance :rip:

If you dislike Taylor that much, perhaps just stay out of this instead of just being a fool when the facts (which fully support Taylor’s side) are out in the open. Siding with Scooter will never be a gotcha moment.

Didn’t Taylor expose that he was cheating on his wife in “Mad Woman”?

She always wins

It’s so funny that if Tay was the one to bring it up, this would’ve had the usual 20+ pages dragging her, but since it’s the trash, barely anyone says anything and even some losers are still trying too...

Yeah that’s not what he said lol.

“Imagine how tired we are”

yes, how tired we are of miss tay victimizing herself over and over for the past few years (and for the foreseeable future) in order to scam her adolescent fanbase. Didn’t her father look over her contract or something? Wonder why she isn’t publicly calling him out for….. actually I still don’t know what she’s upset about lol. Following the terms of a contract? Idk maybe someone can fill me in

She isn’t “victimizing” herself, she’s calling out a shady business move that shouldn’t be happening to anyone, and trying to rise above it.

Taylor was one of the first acts signed to Big Machine when it was an indie start up label.  She worked her songs from the ground up to build her success, and her and Scott Borchetta formed a very close business relationship.  In her words, she said she felt like the daughter he never had.

Over the years, she pled for a chance to buy her masters.  They’re her songs that she wrote, her stories, her life, and they’re all very close to her heart.  She was never given a chance to buy them.  As her contract was coming to an end, and she was exploring other opportunities, Scott finally brought it back up to her as a bargaining chip….he said that if she re-signed with them, she could earn back the masters of one of her past albums for every new one that she put out, and it would be over the course of 10 years.  That’s not exactly a fair deal, and she knew that he was planning on leaving the label in the next few years anyway…she didn’t want to re-sign with them not knowing who her new label head would be, on uncertain terms, so she signed with Republic instead, in her words at the time, to “invest in her future instead of her past” (in a deal she bargained for to help all the artists on their roster).  She left on good terms with him, made peace with it and trusted Scott that he would take good care of her work.

Scooter Braun is an adversary to her, for some reasons we know (one example being that he managed Kanye, championed his Famous video which featured a naked replica of Taylor’s body, partook in some internet shadiness with Bieber about her) and some behind the scenes stuff we don’t know.  She confided in Scott about Scooter over the years, and had numerous conversations where Scott would be in total agreement of Taylor’s feelings towards him. She thought they were on the same page about him, and thought he was the absolute last person her work would ever be even offered to.

She found out (on the day it was announced) that Scott sold her life’s work to him.   After everything, she was shocked and felt horribly betrayed by Scott, who knew exactly how she’d feel about it.  It opened the wound again about how messed up it was that her work, songs about her life that she built, that she’s so passionate about, was passed around behind her back to the last person on earth she’d want to have it, while she (the creator) was never given a fair chance to purchase them.  So she’s taking ownership over those songs her own way with the re recordings.  She’s spoken up about how this is something in the industry that needs to change, how contracts need to be formed differently, and is cautioning other artists to look more closely over deals they sign.

She talked about it a bit here, how she’s been having discussions with record labels behind the scenes about why it’s important.

He’s as dramatic as these comments and Taylor herself. Yes, she stole a bunch of years from his career, but he’s earned a lot of money from this deal. At the end of the day, she isn’t the first person to be in a crappy label situation and she won’t be the last. She is just the loudest and had the most privilege/power to do something about it. You guys can pretend that she’s changing the game but she’s barely (if at all) making a dent in how these deals are constructed. He really should stop whining about it but I understand his annoyance seeing as he didn’t really do anything wrong except play the game better than she could. He probably believes that he shouldn’t be punished for it (and I agree) but it is what it is.

Girl, do you ever skip any Taylor related thread? Did she hurt you  personally in real life? Are you a sibling of john mayer?

I mean he profited greatly off of them so he didn’t lose there, but he will never get rid of his reputation as a snake oil salesman and the evil incarnate basically of the music industry :rip:

meanwhile the re-recordings are a bigger smash than any of us ever thought they could be and she’s hit a new stratosphere with them and her new albums. Taylor lost the battle but won the war.

Please, Taylor and him planned this publicity stunt together. Both of them made millions of dollars from this controversy. It is so transparent

Whether you like Taylor or not, this whole situation is actually very important for how future artists should fight for their craft/masters from the get-go.

Beside Taylor we also have the example of the catalogues of both Aaliyah and JoJo, owned by Aaliyah's uncle. Both catalogues weren't available for YEARS because that scumbag hold on to them, the only legal way was to buy a CD copy. JoJo felt forced to re-record her albums because there was no legal way to stream her past albums. Then the old man decided to pop up again and use the catalogues he owns to make money off it and present it like he is doing everyone a favor while JoJo doesn't earn anything and also doesn't control what happens to her likelyhood surrounding those records.

Yes Taylor is a millionaire but she became a millionaire because of her skills that created said catalogue, whether Scooter or someone else bought it, they could have done things with it, that she could not prevent and that is the reason why she wants to own it herself. Because certain conflicts/scenario's could lead to these OG versions to dissapear from streaming and create a situation similair to Aaliyah/JoJo's catalogues despite her being a millionaire
