The term "transgender" was not widely used in 1969 when Stonewall happened, so it's hard to discern who might've identified as trans then, versus gay men who were drag queens and/or felt they didn't conform to gender norms. The prime example is Marsha P Johnson

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marsha_P._Johnson

What about him? He identified as a man and didn't like being called Marsha when he was out of drag.

This section is relevant: In 1973, Johnson and Rivera were banned from participating in the gay pride parade by the gay and lesbian committee who were administering the event stating they "weren't gonna allow drag queens" at their marches claiming they were "giving them a bad name".[6] Their response was to march defiantly ahead of the parade.

Dunno what this has to do with the topic at hand, but at least you're acknowledging that Johnson wasn't actually transgender.

Don't be obtuse dude.

I'm not. I'm just voicing my disdain for SJWs' inclination to force a trans identity on historical figures that weren't actually trans.

The users in here confusing drag queens with trans women then have the nerve to call others transphobic :deadbanana2:

Cis gay men hating trans people, especially trans women, is the biggest example of cognitive dissonance. :skull:

You cannot separate what fuels transphobia from the reality where it also fuels homophobia.

Gays will never be "normal" in the eyes of cishets. You will never receive back the acceptance you crave from them until you have exclusive sexual attraction to WOMEN, which you will never have because you are gay.

Cisheteropatriarchy means you cannot throw trans people under the bus for the benefit of cis gay people. The politics of gender and sexuality have always intertwined. There's a reason why increased violence towards trans women has correlated with increased violence towards aspects of culture largely associated with gay men.

The people you're trying to win over by taking their side against trans people are literally showing up to drag bars with guns and weapons, trying to break down the doors, because they think your thigh high boots and lip sync to Carly Rae Jepsen means you want to hurt their child like they think trans people do.

Biological essentialism just as much views homosexuality as an unnatural rejection of "natural" sexuality (heterosexuality) as it views transgenderism as the unnatural rejection of "natural" sex (cisgenderism).

When you're resorting to violent mob assault on elderly people to prove your point, it might be time to reconsider your approach.

Someone expressing a different intellectual viewpoint - no matter how offensive or provocative - never justifies physical violence. Period. They could've made him look like an old fool by verbally dismantling him and sharing the video. Instead, he's now a victim and they look like deranged psychos.

With this mindset, then no, you will never feel normal:rip:  Being accepted by the majority is absolutely not an impossibility, and if you go around thinking so then you’ll definitely never be or feel respected.

This thread kind of reeks of weird transphobia. I see no evidence that the things he described happened as he described them, and as an anti-trans activist his credibility is already in extreme question. It’s gross and weird to try to excise a letter from the LGBT community just because it’s trendy right now to spread deranged hate and conspiracy theories about trans people.

hate speech isn't 'a different intellectual viewpoint', it IS violence by itself

You don't get to just label opinions you don't like as "violence" :rip: He views may be offensive to some but they do not encourage or call for violence.

so you really don't think erasing and denying trans people of their basic rights and their very existence is a call for violence? in the year of our lord 2022 :bibliahh:i really don't know what to tell you but his views aren't just offensive, they're dangerous and harmful
