That's nice. I hope she has some comfort from women too. 

I wish Bey reached out tbh but I understand that they've collabed 16 years ago and she lived 8 years in Europe full time. Or she didn't want to feel intrusive since she completely shut the words out when that happened to her. 

But in these situations, women understand better : giving your all, being cheated on, even putting your career in the back burner and still losing the relationship.

IMO she doesn't seem to have a lot of female friends. She's close to her trainer, some of her other female employees, and one WAG (Rossana Kluivert) and that's about it. That being said she doesn't seem to have a lot of friends period... she seems to be the kind of person who kind of loses herself in relationships to the detriment of all else.

 

I do wish that she would've been closer to the other WAGs because they would've understood what she was going through better from getting cheated on to giving up a career for a man (though that being said none of the other WAGs' bfs/husbands seem quite as bad as Piqué, Shakira really picked the worst of the worst)- but they didn't like her when she started dating Piqué because they were all friends with Piqué's ex Núria and they were angry that Núria got cheated on, and they never moved past that initial drama. I have heard rumors that she wasn't that nice to the WAGs either so I can't blame them for that.

 

Moving forward I really hope that she learns from those past mistakes and makes more female friends, in addition to finding a faithful man. And just builds a stronger support network overall.

She has female friends, they're just not as high-profile as the people mentioned in the interview because she hasn't done a collab with a woman in a long time. She still maintaims her friendships with her Colombian school friends, for example.

 

Tbh, I can understand why she never got to be close with Piqué's environment. His teammates' partners were mostly dependant on their boyfriend's/husband's fame and money, with no professional success themselves—what interest could they share with Shakira? And Piqué's Catalan circle... Yeah, people like that don't accept anyone "different" from them with open arms, even less if you're not from the same country, speak their language and have their same views. It's no wonder Shakira's close relationship was with Piqué's parents. Very sad that she isolated herself and made so many sacrifices to try and keep her family together when Piqué never respected that.

I'm glad she's more open and candid about the situation because she's been the target of media exploitation since the announcement of the breakup and it's been getting out of hand lately. She just wants to process this in private and protect her kids, like any mom out there. 

Putting her career in second gear for Pique was a mistake, especially since her artistic growth became stunted over the years. I hope she can bounce back and heal.

I don't know how much either Shakira or Beyonce follow the news, since neither are particularly active on social media. It's possible that Shakira was never aware that Jay-Z cheated and that Beyonce hasn't heard the news about Shakira and Pique. 

 

Shakira doesn't have any close female musician friends.

Shakira has never been the friendly type though. Both her and Rihanna have a lot of similarities when it comes to that.

 

Rihanna’s circle of friends are are her friends from her childhood and school.

 

Shakira’s friends are the little group of mean girls that used to call her a goat around the school choir, her manager, her choreographer and her make up and hair stylist the chick with the purple hair lol.

 

in the industry she has only mentioned keeping in touch with Beyoncé. We can learn a lot from them though, not everybody is your friend.

Honestly, I'm surprised she didn't settle with the Spanish tax authorities. I think the reputational damage they're doing to her is going to end up costing her more than simply paying them. The news that she could go to jail have been everywhere, and have been picked up by every single network around the world.

Oh wow I wasn’t expecting her to be so frank, or to acknowledge that her career has been on the back burner for many years now.

 

Not that I’m happy her relationship fell apart, but I do hope if anything good comes out of it, it’ll be a reignition of her creative spark. She’s been so hit-or-miss starting with Sale el Sol. All her albums before then were so incredible, start to finish.
