Nothing on this has quite the attitude of Everyday, but if you like baroque, you should love Children of the Empire. It’s very dynamic with a choral section, distorted organ, church bells, xylophone? This one will be particularly good in high-res. Empire, Hearts Aglow, and The Worst is Done are the most uptempo tracks. Twin Flame will be a universal favorite.

I feel that, I spent like 10% of my current bank balance (student) but I needed some new shirts anyway and this made my day :bird:

literally said in my philosophy discussion this morning I was excited for the new Carly and Taylor albums but then I got home and saw your post :deadbanana2:

I think this is more like Movies’ interior world, and Movies is my favorite Weyes song. Every track is rather progressive, which is why they work at six minutes. The structures are not traditional since each song functions as a scene.

In Holy Flux, for example, is just a stylized transition into The Worst Is Done, which is a truly uncanny climax. Some may find it too nihilistic; I think it’s earnest as ever. The album actually makes me sad a bit, it sounds like she made a time capsule and I relate to a lot of her feelings. I think she made something really special out of them.

It strangely sounds like it was designed to be heard on both vinyl and hifi. Again, the production is next level. She weaves psychedelia, futurism, and classical instrumentation into her perfect complement.

SLAY :jonny: so i suppose the two singles are on the more rather conventional-style side of the album’s soundscape?

Exactly. The singles make sense in their track ordering, and the songs are generally designed to flow into each other. Hearts Aglow -> And In The Darkness represents a dichotomy and tonal shift as if we go underwater. Twin Flame sounds like heaven and hell at the same time, which is great since it’s a climax before the climax.

I’ve been listening nonstop, sorry :emofish:
