"I'm super into Greek mythology at this moment. I'm super into rockstars, I'm really into a lot of Hollywood stories of people who didn't make it and what they did after and that kind of darkness of Hollywood."

She continued, "It's an interesting mix of things. It's also kind of Berlin. There's definitely the Berlin kind of the Berghain moments that go a little harder sonically and some more techno in this round too but it's all over the place. It's really kind of the essence of me."
 

Kim went on to mention her scrapped debut album and why she felt it didn't feel right to release. "I really pushed myself [with the new album]," she said. There's a scrapped album before this one, which I will forever love but just didn't 

 

"If Jesus Was A Rockstar" is "the perfect first look" at the new album. She thinks "people are going to be very surprised by it which I love. I always want to do stuff that people don't expect from me just because all my favorite artists have."

Kim's song has only 6M playlist reach, some songs with over 50M playlist reach get around 350k streams daily. 
her label doesn't invest in promo, no playlists, no music video, no radio... I don't know, what did they expect?

Yeah she needs to comeback hard. Jesus was such a missed opportunity for a good song. It would’ve been fine as an album track but starting an era off with that song is so dumb

Wendy Goldstein, co-president of Republic and Kim’s A&R was in the room. I don’t get how they’ll give her an award but refuse to treat her solo career like a priority. The dichotomy between Kim having a chart topping song that’s not slowing down, a Grammy nom, yet her career somehow feels like it’s at its lowest in terms of creativity, engagement, and inspiration. Jesus was DOA. What’s next? Another wrong choice for a single with minimal push by Republic?

she’s takes criticism at heart, and it makes her look kinda bothered
 

I was watching her Outside Lands live the other day and the way she needs to justify herself for the RUTH cover was… interesting
