Galah Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 When Max purposely made a bad song so Republic are forced to unshelve Problématique, generous king.
Pop culture Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 So glad that this awful track is flopping

I just never had the chance.” While the two tracks form a cohesive statement, they mark somewhat of a departure for the pop artist, both subject-matter-wise and sonically. “It’s the first time I’m not being a caricature version of myself, like in **** Pop or Turn Off the Light,” she says of the guitar-driven single. “I’m just sharing my real opinion and how I feel in the world as a person.”
#Beautiful Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Quote Petras expected to write the song with just Savan Kotecha and Ilya, but Max Martin was also present when she met with the writers, and he ended up co-writing and producing the song as well as providing backing vocals on it. Petras and the three "talked about the song" then tried out things "to see what stuck". The song was described as "guitar-driven" and a "new era" for Petras, with Petras calling it "fun" but "also really lyrically intense", as it was written after she "struggled with her spirituality over the [COVID-19] pandemic" and reflected on her feeling "excluded" from religion growing up. Petras also spoke about wanting to "switch things up" from the "gay club music" she had become known for and "sing about something deeply meaningful, something that I struggle with and something that is just honest". Petras elaborated that "the song kinda says maybe if religion was cooler, then I would wanna be a part of it. So, if Jesus was a rockstar, maybe I'd want to be just like him." She sounds current day Avril Lavigne interview level of braindead what is this fjidfjidsjfisd absolutely hilarious
#Beautiful Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 this will never pull an album and her team must be filled with idiots. what they should've done was drop the album pre order (because at this point it should've existed in one form or another) with unholy on it and a BETTER SONG than this one as the "lead" feels like yesterday when the clarity rollout was happening and I was like damn its only gonna get better from here. ******* hell

New music literally every week, 2 studio albums, successful tour, her popularity organically growing, her beauty peak too… ugh i miss those days

Freaky Prince Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 They should've dropped ASW with a pink super gay video, but oh well

selena_lavigne Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 this song is great. idk what y'all are on but lyrically it's really cool and it's catchy af
selena_lavigne Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 the production is STELLER too. first song by her after I Don't Want It At All that i can have on repeat.
ThehushSound Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 i can't at her trying to pass this off as a deeply personal track when it clearly is an attempt cause controversy for the religious over the idea of their idol being a heathen like everyone else. That being said it clearly was born out of an deeply personal issue (dealing with religion and its view of lgbt+) but the lyrics are not deeply personal.

Only like 1 official single of hers, and then two songs just randomly dropped on Spotify throughout the year. I really thought she was going to release her debut in 2020 following Malibu, that felt like the first lead single. I remember her talking a lot about the album too at that point. I don't know what happened during that time.

Apparently the album she was making was supposed to be very personal too (she said during a livestream around that time) talking about her struggles with anxiety and etc. But then she changed the concept for escapism during the pandemic and decided to do an album that was the most "fun version" of herself (which turned out to be Problématique). After that she apparently tried to do the "Candy" album, which was also scrapped. She also said on Twitter that she would officially release HIFTB soon, and hinted it would appear on the upcoming album. But on recent interviews she made it seem like the whole new music was created just now, without any past unreleased song to be included on it. Her career is really confusing and she's probably sitting on tons of new music bc she keeps changing plans

It seems like Malibu was a part of an early Problematique concept/draft, but the rollout just halted there for some reason. They never tried out anything else. My ideal rollout for Kim would've been for everything to have remained the same, all the way through to Coconuts (given this a bigger budget mv though). And on February 12th, instead of S*** Pop, we get Hit It From The Back as the next single: with the S*** Pop visual aesthetic, and Treat Me Like A S*** + Throat Goat as b-sides that would appear on a Problematique bonus track edition. I would've had her flesh out Problematique a bit more, as it felt slightly bland in some areas (Love Ya Leave Ya is an example of this). And released the full album in August 2022 as her major label debut. Then release Jesus in November as a standalone single, or tag it into Problematique.
HEAVYONIT Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 This is BAD She needs to record/release something else ASAP or she’s gonna blow the momentum from Unholy and sadly no one will care anymore.

Tistotal Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 This has not even reached 1M on Spotify yet, it's incredible how bad it's doing Let me still listen to it, cause it's a cute a bop

The song is bad so I’m afraid stans don’t like it and see it as a mainstream bland attempt at a “hit” and the mainstream audience doesn’t really feel much desire to stream that one girl with a short verse on the Sam Smith song
Whis Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 Imagine if she released Coconuts now with a good mv + the hype from Unholy

To the GP she is just some girl that appeared on a verse in the second part of the song, i don't think she ever had any actual hype.

I think Revelations / Born Again play on the religious theme much better than this song and would've satisfied her gay fanbase while following the disco / synthpop trend
