Breakdown Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 people really expected a good song with a song title like this?
Superbitch Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 This is cute but doesn’t go anywhere. It’s just there. A beat switch would’ve helped it a lot

TrueBlood Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 Do we know how this is performing on Spotify so far? It is not a bad song, it is boring when you think it's produced by Max Martin & Ilya and it's a shame that this is the song they decided to push after Unholy's success.

SimpleKindofLife Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 This song is really cute. I realized I always end up liking anything she puts out just now. I can’t wait to hear what else she’s done with Max Martin

Nefertiti0 Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 “This is a very different song for me,” says Petras. “It didn’t feel exciting to do another round of artificial pop. It felt like the craziest thing I could do was strip back and sing a song with a guitar lead and just my voice.” It marks a shift, Petras thinks, in her confidence and presentation: “I’m learning how to be myself more as well – from trying to get everyone to like me to being unapologetic in who I am.”

Lazy melody, weird lyrics and ZERO impressive vocal moments or production flourishes

Ok, it seemed strange actually. IIRC, Coconuts had around 1 MIL debut and was her biggest at that time, before Unholy.

TrueBlood Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 BTW, I don't know if it was posted already, but Urban Outfitters has a vinyl of Future Starts Now/Coconuts out on 2nd December.

Lady Claire Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 Btw i’m not mad for that stripped back, personal approach she’s seemingly going for on this album. On the Slvt Pop thread i said how bad she needed to remind people that she can sing and make more meaningful stuff with her lyrics. A friend of mine said that Sam would eclipse her vocally on Unholy bc “she can’t sing” and at the Outside Lands livestream she was dragged HARD at the comments section while singing the SP songs but people took it back when she started her RUTH cover, showcasing her vocals. I don’t feel like releasing a stripped back song as a lead single was the best move, especially after a #1 global smash hit… but with the album, she needs to do a bit of everything and show people what she’s capable of, and more than ever, fuel interest for the GP to visit her back catalogue. We’ll see…

I think it's very likely that this is going to be her biggest first day given the amount of listeners she has now compared to last january.

She can make sexual songs with power, meaning and vocals (ie. Do Me). She keeps pushing IJWAR as a personal think piece about religion as a trans woman but as another user stated above, the lyrics are literally “I would believe in jesus if he partied and did drugs.” Not to mention her vocals are horrendous. It’s so bland and faceless, it sounds like a random pitch demo sitting in a database for Camila Cabello or some other random D lister. It is completely devoid of any personality. Hopefully the next songs she releases don’t sound like this or I’m turning in my stan card <3 All of Problématique and even **** Pop is better than this steaming pile of hot garbage.
