This is bland af :skull: horrible choice for a single. Might as well have released all she wants or hit it from the back

Her VOICE is so good on this along with the music MaxMartin production all across the board

This is legitimately her worst song ever.

The live version hits so much harder. It’s so catchy and the melody is great, there’s just something missing, especially in the verses. I like that she’s singing in a breathier tone but it doesn’t really lend itself to the song well. There’s no OOMF and where tf are her godly adlibs?!?! :gaycat6:

this is…fine, it’s Max on autopilot. they fumbled the bag with choosing this as the single unfortunately.

she’s at by far her biggest career peak, she needed a big bombastic song like Icy or Heart to Break

It’s crazy to think that if she was releasing Clarity NOW, with Icy, Do Me, and Sweet Spot, she’d be HUGE. How do these labels always suck so bad at knowing what to do?

this just doesn't work for her. the lyrical content, the production, it's all deprived of her personality as an artist. it sounds like a halsey song

i really hope there’s a really camp music video to save this

The verses are so lackluster both lyrically and vocals-wise. This is all Max Martin could do with her?

Posted

One truly has to wonder who was her ghost writer the entirety of Era 1 and TOTL cause this is an atrocity :rip:

Ok this is catchy as ****. It's lodged in my head and I'm stuck playing repeat. Maybe she did that.

WAITTTt... this is cute tho??

It’s like her label wanna reinvent her just to make her hit those numbers which is so stupid. Why even sign her if they’re stripping her from her identity?

with this flopping it’s gonna go back to the drawing board. I’m guessing getting Max Martin to produce for her required a contract to release it as a single b/c this after Unholy makes zero sense

i don't really get the 'if you give it to a popstar' lyric... if WHO gives what exactly? can someone explain

Posted

What the. :rip:

Wish she would’ve just released „treat me like a ****“ as a extended single with a video. That is the vibe to follow unholy with. „If jesús“ goes literally nowhere. It’s not bad, it’s just a non-event.

the vocal production is noticeably fuller and better than usual with her but the song is pretty dull and lifeless.

When record labels try to water down an artist it never ends well. Brooke Candy comes to mind.

The lyric is “if he’d give it to a pop star”

meaning if Jesus gave drugs to a pop star (aka Kim) she’d wanna be just like him

I’ll give kim another chance to proof to me that she is still good at releasing music the gays like. If the next single sucks just as hard as this one i’ll unstan cause she can only push me this far….

Not max martin giving her a set up song.

The way i expected the beat to slay and it just kind of goes nowhere :rip: the lyrics could be better too :gaycat6:

it's so mid...like... :deadbanana2:

i like this. idg the comments, it's not like most of the tracks on era 1 and clarity were masterpieces :skull:  they were normal pop songs like this
