Pendulum Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 love the use of Tamil (?) language in some of the songs

AIM was better, idk what y’all are hearing, maybe it’s worth revisiting that album because it was more solid than we give it credit for. There’s no Borders, Jump In, Bird Song or Talk or New International Sound here !!!! OT: Zoo Girl is the one.
jesus del rey Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 MAYA > Kala > Vickileekx > Arular > Matangi >= MATA > AIM
creativity. Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 At least it’s better and more interesting than Aim but still nowhere near her first four albums. Top three for me are Beep, Energy Freq, and Zoo Girl but not sure how much I’ll relisten to any of this.
shookspeare Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Tbh I like this more than Arular and maybe even Maya

Tayman Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 i never understood the hate for AIM, it’s her most ear friendly album, the other 4 have songs that are literally unlisteneable this for me it’s not her best work, sounds a little unfinished and unpolished but hey, at least she gave us something after 6 years KTP slaps
skankle Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 This feels way better than AIM to me, that album was so unfocused and just... lacking good songs before the deluxe kinda saved it lol. Mata doesn't quite approach her first 4 but that's an incredibly high bar and I think this is great regardless. I even like The One in the context of the album tbh, Popular is the only song that stands out like a sore thumb to me - it sounds like a reject from her Matangi partysquad sessions. Marigold is a dud but it feels like it belongs at least.
sad girl Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 (edited) This album is pretty solid tbh. The only song I skip is 100% Sustainable FIASOM / Energy Freq / Zoo Girl / Puththi / MATA LIFE are highlights Edited October 16, 2022 by sad girl
CoralBlue Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 I really like those banging drums on Zoo Girl. The demo version of the song sounds completely different: Also Puththi really hits hard. It's not her best album but it does have a few nice tracks for me.
CoralBlue Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 Also Keep the peace gives me "Paper Planes Part 2" vibes. The spiritual successor.
Movimento Perpétuo Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 This album is weird at the first listening, but it grows after a few more listens. But definitely is her weakest one. Also, wtf are these short ass songs? . Miss Maya don't need to do that
skankle Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 Still no reviews, she really scared off the music press with her tweets huh
keerbyriri Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 album owns. sounds like a good balance of Arular/Kala and AIM

Honestly I even prefer the more streamlined songs on AIM like Foreign Friends to most of the undercooked songs on here
FlyPirate Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 the fact that i cant stop playing this i still dont get where her mind is, neither her take on Christianity even after a few new interviews etc like i can’t get anything clear from it lol but idc idc she does she and MATA slaps dont be afraid queen, drop the extended/deluxe
leightxn Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Need to give this another full listen. Wasn't majorly excited after first listen but I have played FIASOM and Zoo Girl quite a few times
Movimento Perpétuo Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 idc what others say, but Marigold might be her most beautiful song
Abracadabra Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 ok she made several points with this album i fear top 5 beep FIASOM part 2 zoo girl marigold puththi
