The whole album COULD HAVE BEEN a surprise release indeed, but she wanted to maximize her profit and sales this time by milking fans for weeks. Her dropping once in a while to announce a new variant or tease something makes me believe she wants it to feel like a surprise release on Oct 21st while still being able to milk her swifties. Honestly I blame yall for setting yourselves up and expecting a lead single, a big rollout, promo, etc. I kinda knew from the start that she will drop everything at once because the last 2 years made it clear that she's over singles for good. She's simply not that girl anymore. That's why I'm really not that angry at her. You do you Ms Swift, the only thing you're getting from me is premium streams. 

 

It's not crazy to expect a lead single for an album that is announced 2 months in advance. If she truly isn't releasing a lead single, then that strategy is not just illogical but incomprehensible to me. It costs 0 dollars to put a song up on Spotify tonight. It's literally free money and attention.
