the lead should be a good introduction to the album, the focus for me is on how this new chapter/album plays out. she's in a part of her career where she has the opportunity to fully commit to whatever she wants artistically and that's the most exciting aspect to me - knowing that she can push herself to try something new out or to dive deeper in her songwriting

 

all this other stuff (and people saying the risk of a lead single is a bad idea :rip:) is meaningless, you don't make it 10 albums/15+ years endlessly seeking outside validation

Yes we all know that but does she? I don't think she's there quite yet. I sure hope so tho. And numbers and singles don't matter at all, but there's nothing else to say at this point, at least until today's midnight

also her work with Jack has been varied and they're true collaborators. for every "dud" he's had there have been incredible works that are beloved so... yeah

 

based on his recent work, I'm most intrigued by some of the Sling tracks and Daddy's Home tracks. Amoeba/At the Holiday Party vibes would be

Yeah I just think its a weird take to not want a lead single personally

 

there's really no point in her announcing an album in advance unless if there's going to be some sort of leading in. it's very clear that there's a strong aesthetic vision with this album so I'm interested to see how it plays out
