No one's mentioned this yet, but if the Target vinyl is a single LP and includes the 3 bonus tracks, doesn't that mean it will be 46 minutes long, at most?  So the standard album might be less than 40 minutes long. Unless they mastered it differently and managed to fit over 23 minutes per side, which can be done but isn't common...

Then again, the mastering on Red TV is odd. It plays at 45rpm instead of the usual 33.3.

Vinyl version doesn’t have bonus tracks, only CD has them!!

Bonus tracks mean nothing, she gave us the demos of most random songs from Red

The album is not gonna reach 1M. Lover was released in a much better sales climate and didn't do it. It also had vinyls, bundles and all that.

Lover has terrible trash lead single :gaycat6:

Folklore had many versions too girl. And all of them counted for the first week sales.

You spilled but I was talking about the discussion earlier regarding remixes and the lead etc

She still is yet to wheel out the signed cds.

But minimal promo

Lover didn't have vinyl for the first week. It did 680k from CD and digital sales alone.

There's no such a thing as a Taylor Swift album with minimal promo. That does not affect her first week sales at all. People know when Taylor Swift releases something. Promo would only affect the longevity of the record. And even that, she has too much without doing anything.

Not really, if she pull all the tricks then folklore would do 1M

She pulled all the tricks!

She had 8 album covers

8 vinyl covers

Merch Bundles (people bought the hell out of that cardigan)

She broke streaming records

Folklore is the peak of where she can go. Albums just don't reach 1M anymore because streaming took over.

Don’t forget folklore wasn’t even available on the outside (.mp3) of her official website. It definitely affected to folklore’s FW sales. She’s a really strong seller on Target, she will probably do at least 150k there this time.

But I also think 1M+ is not going to happen :giraffe:

Man. I was gonna stick to my guns and not buy till I was sold on if I’d like the sound or not, but lavender is my favorite color. :jonny6: capitalism wins once again.

But then it will compromise her first-week streaming numbers. So yeah, 1M is very unlike

This just reminds me.. where is that iconic gif of that soccer mom buying a whole shelf full of Lover albums at target :bibliahh:I cant find it on google :emofish:
Need to edit Midnights on that :fan:

oh if there's remixes on the target version, she definitely knows which song to put out as the lead and there will be one.

And there is happiness  :giraffe:

I don't see this debuting with 1M units either.

I predict following, imo already quite optimistic numbers for each format:

250k for vinyl

(This is more than double her previous record, which would be an insane jump)

200k from SEA

(The album only has 13 tracks, so I don't see it surpassing folklore's or RED TV's SEA units)

200k for regular CDs & digital copies

(RED TV did ~180k, but digital sales are declining fast, so I don't see Midnights outdoing it by much)

100k for Target exclusive CDs

(This one is probably the biggest question mark. It could be way more, but also way less)

10k for cassettes

All this would bring her to around 760k SPS units.

Even if she were to sell another ~70k signed CDs (like she did for RED TV), she'd be at 830k. I don't see where she'd find the remaining ~200k copies that are needed to comfortably be above 1M... :gaycat6:

I’m predicting 800k :giraffe:

I think a 1M debut or at least very close to it is possible, she's pulling all the possible shenanigans. But for now I'm thinking 800k-900k. Her vinyl sales will actually be insane.
