Taylor Swift - ‘Midnights’

The secret sessioners hyping up CS so much is probably the reason I never got into the song. And them saying INTHAF was worse than ME!th and IFTYE was the pop SOG :rip:

if there is no lead - that's okay too

She shouldn’t release the lead if she’s not gonna promote it anyway. Releasing a lead single and letting it flop will make significant damage to the hype and first week streams.

I literally don’t remember anything from after those sessions :deadbanana4:

But tbh I don’t think we really got anything from

them anyways except maybe they leaked the tracklist too (with one word wrong in HYGTG or something), idr??? Did they leak that list Taylor was shown in that one interview?? I don’t remember how we got that tracklist.

i just tried looking for the interview but I can’t find it now :skull:

I remember hearing about “I Know Places” being a dark song about her avoiding paparazzi, but nothing else specific

I went to the RI one :coffee:

I may be biased but I do agree the 1989 ones were the best.

And a lotta people from that time period are still here on atrl

I've decided that I hate everything about secret sessions and I hope she stops having them :michael:

I don't see the appeal of sitting in a room with a bunch of 18 to 20 year olds (the only demographic to ever make it to those sessions) who would scream at every single word she says and derail her line of thought, and who would be too busy focusing on irrelevant things like who Taylor looked at to actually register the songs she's playing them. Then of course their egos will be inflated and they'll start posting descriptions of the songs that end up being wrong 99% of the time.

I imagine it would be like that interview she did wearing that frumpy Blake Lively suit, where they interrupted her every 2 seconds and screamed at everything she said:

Taylor: All Too W...

Them: whewhew

Taylor: Folklo...

Them: Whewhew

There is being excited and then there is being disrespectful and annoying, like shut the **** up :deadbanana4::biblio:. You could actually see Taylor getting annoyed with them during her TIFF interview tbh.

I'd rather she has an in-depth interview with Zane Lowe like she did for Folkmore than her doing any secret sessions.

It was my dream to go to one but I wasn’t really a tumblr user and my Twitter wasn’t “Taylor” centric enough to have gotten me any notices :rip: I’m happy you got to experience that though. I hope you enjoyed every moment of it.

I’d love to go to one but at this point I feel like im past the maximum age or something lol :deadbanana2:

I actually agree. The novelty of the 1989 secret sessions was great, and I don't remember the people being as insufferable about it like they were for the ones for Reputation and Lover. With those two, it became a competition between the perpetually online and the ones who ended up going were the most obnoxious and conceited people.

I hear ya. To be honest mine wasn’t either. I just think that for 1989 in particular it wasn’t JUST social media focused and there were others way to get invites (contests, etc) so I think I lucked out that way.

Never say never though. May not seem like it but there are usually people of all ages there. Tbh who knows if she’ll actually do them again.

There were people there that I’ve legit never seen again - like they didn’t seem to have any social presence at all, it was wild. So it was definitely a different kind of crew for those and a bit all over the place. I think overall the whole 1989 group was much more chill and respectful and not so wildly annoying lol

Yeah I can only hope that if she does happen to bring it back even just for one or two more eras, there’s more even distribution of opportunities than who replies to every tweet Taylor Nation posts or something. Like I swear you could quiz me on every song of hers, most award show performances and acceptance speeches, etc., and I’d show I’m just as big of a fan as “betty13” on Twitter

Yeah the secret sessions has been a tired gimmick, the media hype has worn off. She should try other gimmicks this time

Posted

I actually think the secret sessions are fun, there’s always gonna be a few bad apples among the invited. There have literally been hundreds of people let into her homes each time, and it’s only a loud minority of them acting annoying.

SS are part of her brand, it builds mystery on the album, creates jealousy among stans, and gives hope for the rest of her fanbase to be part of it one day.

i honestly forgot Lover had secret sessions :rip:

It’s like it didn’t happen outside of tRacK 2! which eventually fall short of its hype. A bland Getaway Car demo’d vocals and production with a Miley Cyrus auto-tuned scream. :rip:

Speaking of Miley, I do wonder if she’s a likely feature on Midnights.

This "era" feels so uneventful... :gaycat6:

Posted

If Secret Sessions for Midnights really are happening, Taylor normally doesn’t allow selected swifties to post until a few weeks later when all the Secret Sessions are done. I remember during the 1989 ones when all of them kept it as a secret for weeks. And they all posted their impressions at the same time. So don’t expect any reviews until at least a week from now.

Does it? The announcement is her most liked post on Instagram :rip: You’re only saying that cause we don’t have anything yet, there’s still time

really hope there are no secret sessions. I thought she learned her lesson after the trainwreck in 2019. Rep SS were already messy but whew those tasteless annoying h0es proved me wrong with Lover.

I Forgot That My Talent Existed being described as the "pop State of Grace"

It's Nice To Have A Grammy being called a "kidz bop, childiest song she's ever done, makes ME! sound like it's a song from Red"

False God being a "political song"

The Man being "one of the best songs on the album!!!"

Cornelia Street overhyped to the highest heavens as "the new ATW"

Afterglow and Miss Americana being "forgettable"

some of these still haunt me :deadbanana4: Not to mention the unnecessary drama it creates...her "im bffs with tay" fans are already as obnoxious as it gets. Imagine the ugly takes if she did them for folkmore?

That isn't remotely what happened x
