Barbra was actually a known actress before music, so I think Cher makes more sense. But Gaga is one of the most successful singer turned actress ever indeed. All while still selling out stadiums. :clap3:

When was Barbra's? Because I feel like Cher's was incredible too.

But yeah, it's so impressive how GaGa became a movie staple!

Her transition to acting has really been so special, it's rare to see a known pop star get such acclaim right off the bat and then continue to secure high profile roles that any actress in Hollywood would kill for.

She's a talented actress, she has versatility and she's unique.  People like her and it's great to see.

this. No one in the pop realm has done it since Barbra, Madonna tanked, Janet tried it here and there, Mariah had an acclaimed minor role and never tried again, Bey tried throughout the 00s but tanked bar Dreamgirls, Taylor dabbles in flops here and there, Rihanna's is flop to mixed reception, Whitney's Bodyguard was a critical flop at release but in retrospect is acclaimed but that's it.

Gaga's the only one who steadily built acclaim and consistent praise for her filmography, AHS gave her a GG, ASIB was an Oscar and BAFTA winner, HoG had her as the center of acclaim and now she's colead in a billion dollar IP.

The last one to do it was definitely Barbra. 2

But Cher was not as omnipresent in music the way Gaga is in today's pop culture sphere, then to transition into big film roles and even doing them simultaneously.

True, I just said that because Barbra technically didnt go from music to film as she was already an acclaimed actress before becoming a music super star.

Little Monster trying distract themselves until next song and / or album that they will try to compare to Chromatica etc…

Barbra sweetie… Cher sweetie…

When Lm will realise that that Oscar they are bragging about is for a SONG not a role in a movie…

GaGa’s snub - she truly is the fraud of the entertainment industry

looks like you're the one trying hard to distract yourself, damn how sad!

Less than a month later, we had our second biggest opening weekend EVER in the US. Theatres were back at that time. (No, I am not comparing a superhero movie to HoG, just saying that theaters were back which made such a huge opening possible)

according to who? and back to what?

because no box office analyst or Hollywood publication that I know of has said that the pandemic’s impact on movie theaters was over yet. in that period older people and other groups were still not going to theaters, actual factual research shows this

+ the movie industry, viewing habits and audience behavior have so radically changed in the past two years that even when theaters are “back”, no one know how it will look like as there will be nothing to compare it to

when will OGH realise that an Oscar is still an Oscar, the highest honor and most prestigious achievement in the entertainment industry and no matter how they kick and scream nothing will ever change that :clap3:

Yet the majority of films could still be doing clearly better business. One huge film doesn't mean the entire box office ecosystem is back to where it was. :rip:

And yet Bey couldn’t even get the song Oscar or an Acting nomination while Gaga has both.

If you really wanna go there NONE of the MPGs from Madonna to now have a Best Actress nomination, yet Gaga has multiple noms including that.

From the artists ATRL cares about, Gaga is literally the ONLY one to actually make a name in the film side of Hollywood

And while Chromatica was def an underperformance, given Gaga did not gaf about it post release AND it had 2 Top 5s + a #1 debut (regardless of whether Ariana carried or whatever)  shows Gaga is still in the game both in film and music and OGHs will have to deal

Of course :clap3:

I mean, I don’t think it’s really accurate to say that Barbra “transitioned” from music to film. She was a Tony nominated stage actress before her debut album dropped….

Love Cher but her movie career was very short-lived and Burlesque was a big bomb even though she was the best part according to all critics and the only reason it made whatever little money it did.

And mess at that user who was exposed by the Hive having a meltdown in this thread

The way her oscar is such a problem to your OGH narratives that you need to warp reality and enter a dimension where she doesn’t have an oscar just so u can drag more comfortably :ahh:

Academy Award WINNER Lady Gaga remains the biggest high profile crossover to acting the world has seen, and it really has them building alternate realities :hippo:
