not you acting like it was released in mid 2020 :deadbanana2:

Not you acting like the box office recovered immediately. Older adults (aka HOG’s primary audience) didn’t return to cinemas until recently.

Her transition to acting has really been so special, it's rare to see a known pop star get such acclaim right off the bat and then continue to secure high profile roles that any actress in Hollywood would kill for.

She's a talented actress, she has versatility and she's unique.  People like her and it's great to see.

Y’all say this like it was for acting, it’s for SONG. :lmao: The same award Juicy J & Sam Smith won :rip:

Yet she did get nominated for acting, and was in the conversation to be nominated again in her second role.

Not to mention, the song she won for was an integral part of the film (that she starred in).  Easily one of the most impactful songs to win that category in recent years.

How can you say that with only 1 hit movie so far? lol

Yet it became the highest grossing adult drama of the pandemic when the box office hadn't recovered yet fully :dies:

Not to mention, they both had a similar total gross in the end (approx $155M) and that's with Dreamgirls having the advantage of being a PG-13 film and released in a better climate :cm:

Btw this isn't a knock on Dreamgirls or Bey, just putting things into context.

OT: Yes. Multi-talented legend :clap3:

Yeah she is

She can actually act

She's carved herself a nice career as a serious respected bankable actress!

Why are people saying Beyonce, The women is a beast of a performer and one of the greats but she has 0 talent in the acting department, she's just awful, sure she has hit films but loads of female artists have managed to get into successful movies especially when they are household names.

A critic even said Beyonce even managed to make her animated character in TLK wooden!

:rip:

Gaga's doing amazing and will continue to do so.

The box office didn't even start to return to pre-Pandemic numbers until this Spring and we're still getting into the groove. Please feign kiis elsewhere, it comes off as pathetic, obsessive, and unhealthy at this point.

HoG was the only successful drama within a 2 year span, has done well on VOD and streaming, and had a genuine cultural presence. It was absolutely a hit movie and was carried solely by Gaga.

I mean, could anybody name someone else?

Gaga did the nearly impossible. It’s that talent, I hear! :gaygacat5:

she's insane for knocking it out of the park with ASIB as her debut lead role

HOG further cemented her place in Hollywood and proved people want to see her on the big screen- officially a movie star

Yeah, she is. Even though House Of Gucci wasn't a smash hit, she got acclaim for her role and that plays a really important role in a actor's career. She's coming with another movie that will probably get acclaim and it will do numbers at the box office. People have mentioned J.Lo, but she hasn't really gotten that much acclaim until very recently and she's got roles in movies like Gigli. Cher is the only other one I could think of, so that would put Gaga in a top three of artists most would desire to be apart of.

Gaga is reminiscent of Barbra what with the Broadway-esque theatricality in her delivery and overall vocal versatility, intriguingly enough. I believe only time will tell, but after she snagged that Joker role and phenomenally executed her role in ASIB, I'm positive Gaga could potentially be on the trajectory to surpass Barbra in the film department.

Incidentally, a contemporary interpretation of a Barbra biopic should have Gaga protray Streisand, as I see noone else more qualified for said part. Re-imagining Funny Girl with Gaga would be epic too.

JLo started as a dancer, then actress, then singer. Before "If You Had My Love" came out she was already famous for Selena and Out of Sight.

an Oscar is an Oscar, whether it’s acting, cinematography or music, they’re all voted by the same Academy members and therefore have the same value. which is why there was such backlash in not televising some awards.

and yes this is the same Academy that voted for Juicy J and not Beyoncé, i guess they didn’t think she was good enough

Less than a month later, we had our second biggest opening weekend EVER in the US. Theatres were back at that time. (No, I am not comparing a superhero movie to HoG, just saying that theaters were back which made such a huge opening possible)
