I'm not sure she will ever be able to surpass Barbara's insane acting legacy but she is sure as hell gonna take the #2 spot for the best singer turned actress transition ever. Dreamgirls made almost double domestically ($100M+) than HoG which is where studios get the biggest cut of the box office. Dreamgirls probably just about broke even at the box office but it did great in DVD and Blu-Ray so I'm sure it made plenty of money.
