Is this why the movie is so bad? Bc the movie was made for Gaga? Her bf made it for her? Is she really using him for roles? In what world is Gaga a good actress? Love her but she needs to be real. That one movie was ok but way overrated in terms of academy buzz. but to give her more roles? Idgi. What am I missing??!! I know…so many questions. ??!!! Sorry but this just as crazy as those Beyonce killed people conspiracy theories. Gaga's boyfriend may be rich but he has no entertainment connections as far as I know and even if he did, no one is powerful enough to make a studio cough up 200 million dollars for a vanity project for their girlfriend (that she was barely in and got most of her scenes cut). Kevin Costner and Francis Ford Coppola, literal Hollywood legends couldn't make studios fund their projects and had to put up their own money, WB is not shelling out 200 million for Lady Gaga. They just bet on Todd Phillips and Joaquin after the massive success of the first one and they made a bad movie. It's as simple as that.
Ivan_brit Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Saw it yesterday at night it was basically me a friend and no more than 12 people more howwever it was a Monday night The movie is for sure a big decline from part 1, is not as tragic as some people say it is, but it was not good. Joaquin performance still slays Gaga did fine, however I was waiting for a a part where she goes crazy or something else & it did not happen.
Pop Art Posted October 9 Posted October 9 I saw this on Saturday immediately after seeing the first one for the first time, and while the first one was definitely better, I have to wonder...are we all watching the same movie? Like some of y'all (and critics and GP members) are reacting to this like it's the worst movie of the year and one of the worst movies ever released when it wasn't anything more than a little lackluster in my view. This is one of the biggest disparities between critical/commercial reactions and my own person views of a film I've ever experienced honestly. It's probably easy to just chalk that up to my bias for Gaga, but I genuinely don't think it's that. 4
Mr. Duff Posted October 9 Posted October 9 I watched this last night with high hopes but it's really terrible. The musical parts are actually unnecessary and in a way not integrated properly. I think it's a script weakness - it's so bad. It's a great thing to see Gaga and Joaquin have this chemistry and great acting, but they can only do so with an underwhelming material. I wish they have utilised Gaga more, it felt like she was hired because she can sing. They could have done so much more with the character. The word of mouth is really bad, but I understand now because it's really far from the greatness of the first one.
305 Posted October 9 Posted October 9 I went last night going in thinking people were being dramatic but no it really is that bad. The first 20-30 minutes were interesting and I liked how the music was playing into the plot/characters but then it just got so boring and the music didn't make sense anymore. It was like watching a long boring episode of Law & Order with bad character development, an inconsistent plot and a terrible ending. Gaga did great but they truly did waste her talents and Harley's story, she could've been so much better with a better director or script. It's crazy how a sequel can be so much worse
thedeathbymusic Posted October 9 Posted October 9 The only musical numbers should have been: Spoiler Breaking out of Arkam (If My Friends Could See Me Now) Folie A Deux waltz The Joker and Harley Show (To Love Somebody) Courtroom fantasy (The Joker) Post courtroom montage (Gonna Build A Mountain) The rest should have been cut and turned into dialogue scenes. The musical elements work only in fantasy sequences, except for If My Friends Could See Me Now, which works to show Lee's "madness" as singing and her mind in that moment AND That's Entertainment, which should have served as a continuous song we find Lee singing to herself (mixed with dialogue) throughout the film that culminates at the end of the with her on the stairs belting it out and arresting Joker. Would have made the film so much more complete/tight and less of a drag.

Letters From Adi Posted October 10 Posted October 10 So, I went to see the movie yesterday with a friend thinking to give the good sis Gagz some bucks So, here's my review of the film... Spoiler WARNING: Spoilers! Don't read if you don't like Spoiler Pls ignore the hazy pics. Photography wasn't allowed in the theatre but I managed to sneak a few in The hall was entirely empty saving me, my friend and a couple making out at the back. We got our tickets at 70% discount ngl. The nachos we got cost us more than the tickets for the movie lmao. So, the movie started out with an unnecessary animation and then rolled into some Telephone MV esque intro that just kept on stretching on and on. Basically, it was a snoozefest of Joaquin moaning some songs every 5 minutes that made my ears bleed. Gaga doesn't appear until a long time in. I liked her scene where Lee meets Arthur, then it just gets dull again. They added a random twink who gets killed off screen later but doesn't add much to the storyline otherwise. The movie just drags on and on, making you feel so sleepy and regret wasting your money buying that ticket. The saving grace is this scene of Gagz singing a cover of Close To You. I liked her acting at parts but she appears like only 20 minutes in the entire 2 hour snoozefest. There is no action until like the last 15 minutes of the movie when a bomb explosion kills people at the court, Arthur flees and finds Lee who rejects him for giving up Joker. He is taken back to the prison and gets killed by a pyschopath fan. The whole script was a hot ass mess, and so was the plot. I would rate the movie 2/10 at best (the songs were kinda nice, but way too many made it felt like jazz/waltz piece). Also, TOO many dream sequences to stretch the length of the movie. Yea, so... that's that 1

Doogle Posted October 13 Posted October 13 I watched today and it was crap. Not truly terrible and Gar was the highlight, so I'd give it 2 stars. It was dreadfully boring and nothing mattered but I did scream when Spoiler Gar was done with Joker and she started singing at him and he told her to shush dhdkdhdhdh I think it was reflective of the whole movie tbh I liked the soundtrack so the songs were fine. She was playing a good role but tbh it was just too boring to be salvaged
zzmyth Posted October 13 Posted October 13 Wow... 7M for the second weekend.... This won't even get to 75M in the US.... 😱

This won't even get to 75M in the US.... 😱 Joker: Folie à Deux will fall a stunning 81% from its opening weekend at the box office, as Terrifier 3 pulls off a surprise weekend win, and The Wild Robot has a good hold in its third weekend. Here's how the weekend numbers look as of Sunday morning (click on the image for the full chart of films reporting so far)… The Terrifier franchise has become a decent box office force over the past three years. Terrifier 2 had a great run in 2022, ending with almost $11 million at the domestic box office. Since then, the original Terrifier has had a re-release in Summer last year (albeit to fairly modest receipts). The box office win for Terrifier 3 guarantees a Terrifier 4, and probably more after that. That's the good news at the box office this weekend. The bad news is that Joker: Folie à Deux is having a miserable second weekend, falling a precipitous 81% from its debut. It'll struggle to hold on to any theaters next weekend and could well end with a domestic total under $60 million—a disaster for Warner Bros., who undoubtedly expected this to be one of their biggest films of the year. I said 75M... The predictions say it won't touch 60M now... WOW. So below 60M in the US and could even end up below 200M WW too... What an absolute BOMB 1 1
