Doctor Dick Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Just now, suburbannature said: Hm? There are 7 films already in main competition that have gotten 9+ minute standing Os including one that went 17.5 minutes (Swinton and Moore in The Room Next Door) and one that went 12.7 minutes (Brutalist). You're right

Antisocialites Posted September 4 Posted September 4 2 minutes ago, Doctor Dick said: There's a huge difference between a polite 4-minute standing ovation and a 11-minute one. 3 minutes ago, PlERRE said: That one was only 4 minutes 4 minutes ago, ctlp27 said: of 4 minutes. of course they all get one but the longer the better. 4 minutes is frozen. 17 minutes for almodovar monday is a triumph. Queer with Craig got 9 yesterday. so yeah 11 minutes is VERY VERY GOOD. these numbers don't matter please TAR "only" received a 6-minutes standing ovation. 2

narid Posted September 4 Posted September 4 She is in great company with Omar Apollo. Two 11 minute standing ovation icons.
Slap Posted September 4 Posted September 4 I'm not making a comment about this film's reception because clearly it will do well, but the standing ovation thing in general sounds like such a Hollywood circle jerk. Like can you imagine how culty it is to be standing and clapping for that ******* long for literally anything no matter how good it is? Like even the best thing I've ever seen I cannot imagine clapping for more than a minute max, it just feels so forced and cringe. 4

I think this is the actual reality, but hey, the joke's on everyone here honestly, so who are we to judge? 1

Yeah these standing ovations at festivals are bullshit and they mean nothing but seeing people argue over which film got 30 seconds more or less clapping is hilarious. 1 4

Yeah but ones that sucked ass wouldn't get 11 minutes. Would Cats get 11 minutes? The worse the movie the shorter the claps, so while it doesn't mean this movie won't get panned a bit, it looks to be mixed at worst. 1
