Beyoncé removes Kelis sample from ENERGY

This whole era has been a PR nightmare. :bibliahh: She's lucky that the MSM is still by her side out of fear of the Hive, otherwise the album wouldn't have been so critically acclaimed. :sistrens:

All Bey's eras are this way. All of them.

That's why this fake narrative of bought PR is hilarious.

And being used to it, I really don't see the nightmare. Especially in this situation. :toofunny3:

She was making money from the royalties from the sample. Which is why her behaviour was so ridiculous... Now she's back to making nothing.

No she wasn't. That was her entire point. I swear Beyoncé stans are so dumb. :rip:

This! Kelis always been jealous on Bey. That’s why her “career” is where it is

Jealous of someone using her song? Is it crack?

No actually, that wasn't her point. She was mad that Beyoncé didn't call her personally to clear the sample, despite the fact that she is not a credited writer, producer or master owner. It had nothing to do with royalties. There's also no reason for you to attack me personally, particularly when you're being loud and wrong.

i'm kinda confused

But she gave the writers credit and since Kelis has no writing and publishing credits, she made sure her name will appear as we saw on the Amazon Italia version so she could at least get that respect . Kelis was mad because she didn't get a call from Bey and thought it was stealing, lack of soul and passive-aggressive to sample her song so now the issue is resolved. We can all move on.

Girl the way Kelis was explaining is that she didn't get any royalties from the song but actually she just wanted a call from Bey and now she's not getting anything. Chile...

She should have shut up and ate her food.

No you are loud as wrong, Kelis was never credited as a songwriter on Energy and was never going to make any money from that song contrary to what you stated and her main complaint was about Pharrell stealing her publishing. Hence why Beyoncé didn't have to ask her for permission to sample her song.

The way she talked herself out of a cute little royalty check every year :deadbanana4:

and some of you should read up on songwriting/publishing if you’re going to speak on it because a few of these posts are…not correct :pool:

The part where just because Kelis wasn’t a writer on Milkshake doesn’t mean Bey can’t list her as a writer on Energy?

But... Beyoncé has NEVER credited Kelis as a writer on Energy at any point. Get it?

She did not and she can't, she was however added as a performer in the credits. I suppose as a way to show homage because Robin S. sure wasn't.

Anyway she did not want to be sampled, Bey has removed the sample. End of the story.

B is not the reason why she's not credited on the original.

Kelis was never credited, so let’s just start there. It sampled Milkshake and that was taken off only Pharrell and Chad’s credits are gone now.

this is what she wanted, no? so good for her and beyonce for solving the issue

anyways let me stream brave by the queen

Hopefully Beyoncé stans can stop harassing Kelis and talk about her husband's death now that this issue is solved.

The sample is still there on every streaming service I checked, as well as their credits.

Did this start with the Twitter Hive trolling just to get more streams? :deadbanana2:

Kelis was credited as a performer of the song. Beyoncé couldn't simply give Kelis a writing credit since The Neptunes are legally the only writers and producers of Milkshake.

Nonetheless, I'm glad Beyoncé eventually did the right thing by removing the sample. It has been a tired drama.

Not really. She just wanted Bey to kiss her ass and that’s why she was so insistent on receiving a call. Bey didn’t owe her a damn thing because she didn’t write OR produce the song to begin with. She’s mad at Pharrell and Chad Hugo and needs to stay mad at them because that’s where her issue lies. Actually, she should be mad at herself for singing an apparently shitty contract, maybe she would owe the rights to her music had she thoroughly read over her contract :coffee2:

See my version still has the sample too so maybe it needs to be updated not sure. But the main thing is Kelis was never credited to begin with I don’t know why some are choosing to say Beyoncé gave her a credit. Kelis was never credited on Milkshake so it’s not her fault but her tirade began with Pharrell stealing publishing from her.

that makes more sense. people don't get that credits is not what gets you paid. It's a shout out to "contributors" so she wasn't getting dem coins regardless but it's a mess that they the stans are talking about Kelis being jealous as if she took from Beyonce and Kelis is in a whole new career and not aiming for a music career.

I guess it's good energy to remove any tension from that song, pun intended.

Kelis deserved to have her name SNATCHED off. She crossed the line when she called Beyoncé a satanic wh*re. It was one thing verbally attacking her for something she claims a man did to her, but the doubling down is what made her look unhinged. She lost all credibility after the continuous social media rants at Beyoncé. It was never about the music; it was about getting her anger out at Beyoncé that she's clearly held in for years. It's obvious at this point. Keep that negative energy away from the masterpiece that is Renaissance.

On another note, Beyoncé really is a class act. :clap3:

She handles her sh*t like a real woman should - mature and professional. No rants on Instagram, passive aggressive remarks, verbal attacks or running to social media like she has rocks for brains. She really is a seasoned professional and moves like one. She doesn't get enough credit for it. A lot of other celebrities who take to social media for every perceived slight should take note. This is what separates Miss Renaissance from the rest - aside from her undeniable talent, work ethic and trendsetting ways. It's the classy way she carries herself. She always comes out better for it in the end. Honestly, it's quite admirable.
