Billionaire Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 The way if I made a thread about how Gaga, Rihanna, Katy Xtina, etc are BORING I'd be getting lashed but I'm not cause I realize they weren't marketed or made for my audience. That's literally it these new girls don't wanna appeal to your audience + you're just old

FreeXone Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 It has nothing to do with age. My mom loved Britney,Beyonce and Gaga. She could see they eere entertaining. You also ackowledge Doja is the only one being interesting and that is true. The new girls just arent there. No x factor.

So the focus is on the music and not the gimmicks. Also why most of ATRL's fav artists are struggling now. This . Music videos and live performances dont matter anymore SADLY. Its all about streaming. The glitz and glam are dead. Edited August 1, 2022 by FreeXone

These girls having shorter threads has more to do with the age disparity on ATRL, alot of us are in our middle/later 20's and above. On the Datalounge, which is full of mostly gay baby boomers they have lengthy threads routinely about Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, Cher and Better etc. They can discuss Madonna, Janet, Whitney, Mariah to an extent but they have a distinct lack of interest that I've noticed with the millennial girls (Beyoncé, Britney, Christina etc.) in fact they drag them routinely so... It's an age thing. This is true but it's not only that. The music industry has less money in it than it did a decade ago. MTV, YouTube, and VEVO are all basically irrelevant now, so there's no point putting millions of dollars into a music video. Also, pop culture is so segmented now thanks to the internet so there's no point trying to create an iconic controversial popstar that everyone will care about, because it's simply impossible nowadays.
Freakshowvato Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Its just Dua and Doja… and the latter is in the R&B lane
Jay07 Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 There are no stars anymore. Doja is the closest but she's more rap/r&b than a popstar even though she dabbles in pop from time to time. All the others are charisma voids.
KillingYourCareer Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 They lack a strong personality or interesting concepts. Also they all seem fake and tryhard.
naval23 Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Honestly they do seem boring. Pop culture was soo much more interesting before
Selenasworld Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Their not, is just these industry plants are boring, y'all ignore Tate McRae and we all saw she leaves her entire ***** in the stage
shookspeare Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 the age argument is SO tired pop culture objectively used to be much more messy because twitter backlash didn't exist back then. Now that information travels so quickly no one has the guts to be interesting or provocative now
chaeyonce Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Genuinely though Doja is the only interesting one
Protocol Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Rosalia and Lizzo are not boring.
Stellar1103 Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Not their fault. Times have changed and their lots of talented singers, songwriter and musicians. You can take your pick. You don't have to be force feed a popstar. So much variety in music now and I love it!

It's an age thing. Great point. My parents definitely act the same way, as they typically listen to music within their respective eras. Occasionally, they'll enjoy an current artist (ex. Bruno Mars, Beyoncé, etc.) but on average they stick to their generation. As someone in their 20's, I'm slowly noticing that in myself however I enjoy all types of music and like to keep myself fresh with exploring newer acts as well.

Doja has a lot of charisma and is an engaging performer, but she's definitely an hybrid artist. I like some of Dua's music, but her lack of charisma and stage presence leaves a lot to desire... she is very pretty and has shown creative ideas throughout the Future Nostalgia era. gab00 Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 i think Doja is pretty fun tho as for the rest. simple and minimalist is the norm now. just like exagerate and dramatic was the norm in 2010.

Kiss It Better Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 because they aren't letting pop girls who isn't boring and lazy like Tinashe, Doechii and Azealia Banks to succeed
Sazare Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Very true. Of today’s pop stars only Doja, Billie, and Ava have that je ne sais quoi.
