Why are the new pop girls so boring?

Recommended Posts

The only ones who are entertaining is Doja.

Dua's performances are boring

Olivia Rodrigo makes faceless and disposable pop music

Normani still hasn't released her album yet even after 84 years

Doja is the only one who brings entertainment to her music. I mean it says a lot that Britney, Beyonce, Taylor, Gaga, Christina, Rihanna are the only pop girls on here who have 5+ page threads. a Dua, Olivia or Normani thread only lasts 1 page.

One word: Streaming

It´s sad what it has done to pop culture. Before the streaming era, you needed to be a good peformer, shock the people, be artistic and create new content to be successfull.

Nowadays you only need a catchy sample and playlisting.

Because we're getting older. The older you get the less receptive you are to new music. These girls having shorter threads has more to do with the age disparity on ATRL, alot of us are in our middle/later 20's and above.

On the Datalounge, which is full of mostly gay baby boomers they have lengthy threads routinely about Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, Cher and Better etc. They can discuss Madonna, Janet, Whitney, Mariah to an extent but they have a distinct lack of interest that I've noticed with the millennial girls (Beyoncé, Britney, Christina etc.) in fact they drag them routinely so...

It's an age thing.

But then explain why it's always the older pop girls like Britney, Bey, Christina, Madonna, Gaga and Taylor still getting 10 page threads but we don't see any like that for Dua?

Because the grandpas on this site are still living in 2008.

Does the Retirement Home section of ATRL not get tired of making the same threads since 2016?

because most people on this site are millennials or gen x, that's why atrl is the only place where you can still find "xtina vs britney" discussions

stan twitter (aka mostly gen z) discuss current pop girls all the time

With streaming and playlisting they don't need to put out content anymore :giraffe:

Honestly seems like the millenial pop girls and celebrities in general are the most interesting. People just don't have it anymore especially now that everyone can be famous thanks to social media. Look who dominates celebrity news? Memes? Gifs? Mainly millenial heavy celebrities.

Also, as far as pop debuts. Millenials tbh got to see the best, most iconic ones.

these are your pop girls? :ahh:

Because everything has been done and the new girls seem like derivative versions of artists that came before them.

Age is also a factor… you’re not going to have the same fond memories and experiences attached to someone who’s like 17, especially not in a TikTok & social media era, devoid of any mystery or intrigue, whereas the classique pop girls shaped and where soundtracks to our youth.

you’re old and out of touch

olivia has 2x songs that were big record breaking events from day 1. they generated huge amounts of discussion amongst the main demographic and were culturally relevant. you should try and look at things more objectively!

The post you just quoted literally answers that question (?)

OT: Music industry has changed and that has affected the new girls severely.

There was a bigger demand for pop girls 10 years ago plus YouTube was peaking so they had to make their videos eventful and controversial to stick out

Streaming has made it easier for the girls these days and the pandemic made them lazy too.

Maybe we should go kick their asses so they respect our millennial pop girls
